lol you got it! I went to that website with the list of breeders but there are no websites just emails to the different breeders....Guess I need to get some sleep because I will be busy tomorrow calling

It's sad that I had my hopes up for Izzy to have a friend and now they are shattered. But a lesson learned...for me & my dear husband, we will be more cautious when finding another breeder.

Glad you figured out you have to do some calling. Keep in mind even with AKC & YTCA you must research your breeder, there is good and bad breeders in every organization. Know what questions to ask, make sure there is contract/guarantee (if you don't understand it, ask). If you aren't comfortable with your breeder walk away. All pups are cute, so don't fall for that cute face and ignore everything else.

I would questrion, as to why a puppy needs to be wormed. If the breeder has an ongoing worm problem, they have too many dogs. If the breeder does not have a worm problem, then why would one feed poison to a healthy puppy.

I would not buy a puppy that came fom a place with worm problems. My puppies do not get wormed because my adults do not have worms. And the only way a puppy could get worms is if they are in contact with dogs that have them.

I always recommend the YTCA referral list. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is the mother club for Yorkies, and AKC is the registry that they use. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club

I should have read the rest of the thread before I posted. I recommend you calling a breeder, and asking her if this is a good time to speak. Set up an appointment for a future call if she's busy. You can learn so much!

That is true Rhett's mama, I had a gutt feeling about her and when she told me this, I decided to forfeit my deposit. I lost the deposit but I think I am making the right decision.

I am having a hard time finding a breeder with YTCA that will sell their puppies without being spayed. Not to mention none of them are answering their phones & emails are being bounced back to me

Getting discouraged about Izzy a sister now

Megansmoma, awe that is sweet! I am willing to listen and learn all that someone with knowledge has to offer. I am a part of this forum and very pleased to be with all of you who know more of this beautiful breed, Yorkie...and want to know all I can, like a sponge, I am soaking all of it in! Thanks for the encouraging words.

Are you planning on breeding? YTCA breeders do not sell breeding dogs without mentoring someone. The Yorkshire Terrier breed has so many problems due to indiscriminate breeding. So many people think that learning about breeding means learning about whelping, there's so much more to it than that, and it does take years of study. I never recommend someone go into breeding lightly.

Why would you want one without a spay/neuter contract? Are you planning on breeding/Showing?

Thanks for all of your concerns but no on both accounts. I am just exploring my options and doing some research as I go, but thank you. Being careful and watching & learning who I can trust and who I can't. This will all take time...again, thanks for all of your concerns. All of you are being very helpful in my learning who you are and who is helpful in my quest to learn more about yorkies

I just wanted to say this, if the pup doesn't have shots and your "ACK Yorkie" does your dog should be okay just not the pup...not entirely though bringing any dog into your home creates the oppertunity for all types of issues...even a dog with vacs. can carry parasites, fleas, worms, ticks, general creepy-eepies.
