Personally, I think a spay/neuter contract is a sign of a good breeder. It shows that they are committed to preventing indiscriminate breeding and the slow destruction of the breed.

As for them not answering phone calls or emails right now; it's Christmas time and many of them are busy with their real lives. Not to mention that some breeders are leery of having to deal with people who want a puppy for Christmas. Take your time and you will find the right breeder and the right pup.

I would not buy a puppy that came fom a place with worm problems. My puppies do not get wormed because my adults do not have worms. And the only way a puppy could get worms is if they are in contact with dogs that have them.

While I am of the mind set and practice of not over vaccinating/administering drugs unnecessarily......Worms should not be over looked and a collective puppy stool sample should be taken in for testing and deworm if the sample shows evidence of parasites.

Having too many dogs has nothing to do with contracting parasites, individual pets contract parasites just by the very nature of their activity.....

How often do you test your adult dogs for worms? Can you say positively that your dog hasn't come in contact with the larvae since their last testing? If you go out walking any where, there is a chance you can come in contact with infected feces and bring it home on your shoes. Tapeworms are carried by infected fleas. Some types of worms can be passed in utero or through the mothers milk.

I don't advocate random dosing of any medication. But without having each pup tested, how can you be positive that they are worm free?

That's correct, you will have a very hard time finding a reputable YTCA breeder who will sell on full registration. Why do you want full registration? Are you thinking about breeding? I would suggest you not, unless you find a good mentor first. It's a very difficult endeavor.

What about your AKC pup now? Did you get her on limited or full registration? Do you know if you get your pups spayed before their first heat, their chances of getting cancer is almost zero. If you never get them spayed, it's not a chance of IF they get cancer, it will be WHEN they get it.

No YTCA breeder will sell you a dog on full registration. Not without a stringent contract, the dog requiring to be Championed and them mentoring you......

This is the weekend, many of them are exhibitors and more than likely at dog shows and of course the holidays.
