No you still have to pay for them. It still technically count as my carry on but I still am able to pack a carry on. Delta says it counts.....but they never care because her carrier is smaller than most women's purses.

				 | I always tried to get Maxine her own seat for a few dollars more, but the airlines would not let me. We have been really lucky and most of the time have had great attendants that let us take her out of the bag, or put the bag on our lap. She must have had 20 plane rides at least, and also logged many miles in the car back and forth the Arizona. I never flew Carlo as an adult. He either rode in the car to AZ, or he was boarded at the training facility. |

				 | Sophie Kate is has gone on trips with me a few times, I hate paying that fee for her when she is going to be under the seat in front of me by my feet (I thought I purchased that space already). One poster made a statement about a child being on someone's lap and I agree - if passengers can have a "lap child" why can't I take my dog. Trust me I have set by some children in my time who were so horrible on flights I wanted to open the emergency exit, grab a beer and use the slide. One suggestion I would make is if you fly Delta get their American Express, you can can check one bag free as long as you buy your ticket with that card - it helps with the fee's. I should add I don't want to sound ugly towards children, I have also experienced great kids on planes who have made the trip even more enjoyable.

				 | If it helps any, we used Southwest in October and they didn't charge for the first checked bag. I have no idea what they'd charge for a yorkie as ours stayed w/our adult daughter. Our flight with them was very event free, I worried cause we'd never flown w/them before, but now I will look for them again.

				 | I fly jet blue and it is also 100 each way It is a lot, grr! I sat next to a woman with a baby on her lap that was FREE and kicked and screamed... Yet my dog is expected to sit quietly in a bag under my seat and I pay through the nose. It is NOT fair, I will never be convinced it is. I pay because I want to have my babies with me, but I will never feel it is fair. At least with jet blue I can still have a carryon, so I don't have to pay for checked luggage. |

				 | With jet blue you do get some extra points for them... 300 each way, so it's not a lot but it helps a little! |

				 | I fly with my dogs often. They never checked a ticket for the pets! I bet you can get away without paying...i said to my husband. So last time we flew, I put 2 in one carrier and they still never checked! next time im just going to check the flight status of amount of dogs on and if there are availabilites im not paying till i get there and i get caught . Because they do not check for a ticket anyhow. Let me know if you find that they do not check. My carrier is really small and looks like a carryon. |

				 | Reminds me of the episode of "I Love Lucy" where they were flying home from Europe, and she wrapped a giant cheese like a baby. Didn't work out too well, so maybe don't try it...

				 | I think thats ridiculous and its the reason I dont fly with mine because I have 2 and it would be way too expensive. Plus I dont like it you have to leave them under the seat
