| Vacuum Fear! Okay, so Bear HATES the vacuum...when I pull it out, he barks like mad! He will nip at it, freak out, yelp as if it's hurting him- I don't know what to do! I have tried to train him to stop, but it only makes things worse, I need help!

| I had the same situation with Sammy. He still goes crazy but not as bad. What I did sounds a little odd but it worked. Sammy would bark when I took the vacuum out of the closet before I even turned it on. So finally I left the vacuum in the living room for about 2 weeks and let him walk up to it and smell it etc. He still barks at it but on a scale of one to ten, he went from a ten to about a three/four. I keep him in the kitchen when I vacuum so he doesn't get hurt. There was a time when I was vacuuming with him in my arms to keep him calm. |

| Tinkerbell was very vacuum aggressive. I very firmly told her to stop and to go lay down, and she pretty much did. Now only once in a while she'll attack it, but only for a quick bark or two and then she just goes off into another room. I did have to get between her and the vacuum at one point though to get her attention...

| My babies are scared of the vacuum too!! However, they just hide when they hear it. When it's not on, Carmel will be curious. haha Luckily, they don't bark or anything. They just go somewhere away from the vacuum to hide.

| Both of mine hated it at first, but got used to it. Tia was so terrified of it, I had to hold her when she was tiny. I just stuck her in my pants pocket and she vacuumed along with me. Now, both don't mind it, but love to bark at it if mommy plays like it is going to get them!!! |

| Mine doesn't bark at it (shes not a barker) but she runs out the doggie door and will stay out there until its done even if its raining and she hates the rain. Sometimes if I am not the one vacuuming I will take her into the bedroom while all the other rooms are getting vacuumed or my grandma will take her into the bathroom if I am vacuuming. I have tried taking her to it to sniff it and encouraging her to go and sniff it nothing has worked for us.

| We have a similar situation, except it actually scares the poop out of them...literally. The vacuum comes on and they poop on the floor So one of us has to hold them, walk them, or put them in their crates to prevent a bigger cleanup! |

| i learned from victoria stillwell to give dogs treats when the vaccum is out and to give treats when it's moving near them and off. and then give treats off the vaccum itself and then start it up and start giving treats off it while running and moving until they kinda thing it's a giant LOUD treat machine...hope that mite help. it takes a lot of work but it's helping mine out a little with their fears. |
