| New puppy help Hi all! I'm a new mom to Charlie our 9 week old yorkie. He is very cute...very small only 1lb. I'm trying to crate train him and yes he has had a few accidents in the house I think it is our fault for not watching closely. I put him in the crate to sleep and as soon as he wakes up I take him out and say go potty. He does well but when I put him in the crate when he isn't sleeping he whines and barks and won't stop. I want him to get use to this so when I leave he doesn't have a problem. Any suggestions for me?? I'm all ears |

| Hi Bitsy! He does sleep in the crate at night and does well. I have it by the bed though since we have only had him since Sunday. Everytime he falls asleep I put him in his crate. He doesn't like being alone at all! Yes he is very tiny....his dad is 3lbs and his mom is 4.5lbs he was the little's out of 4. I have a few pictures in an album....still learning how to get around this site |

| Sounds like you are doing the right thing! I bet he's just lonesome when he is in there and awake. Maybe just do little visits to it when he is awake...like 5 minutes. This sight is awesome...everyone is so nice. It is my number one source for all yorkie info. Welcome!

| You should definitely expect accidents. Their bladders are not fully formed until they are about 16-weeks of age. I got my pup at 10-weeks old..... I bought him a snuggle puppy [brown mutt.....(they have several different ones....] it has a plastic red battery operated heart that you can turn on and off that simulates an actual heart beat. It also has some warmer things you can put in it.... I never had any problems.....I would look over and he would be sleeping on top of it. Good Luck!! |
