| Hoping to be a Yorkie momma real soon!! Hi everyone! Im brand new to this board..a great one at that! Im Amy, 31 and live in NC with my husband and our two boys, ages 4 1/2 and 6. We've had dogs on and off for a few years, use to breed Staffordshire Bull Terriers, but have since given that up. I want more than anything to have a female yorkie to call my own (in a testosterone house, I need one!) I want a small size one. Am having a hard time finding one nearby that doesn't cost a ton of money. anyway, just wanted to say hi!! |

| Welcome to YT! Yorkies are great and fine with children just advise doing research regarding size. Young children can be gentle...but the tiny dogs can get stepped on very easily. Not sure what you meant by "small one" and I know there are members with little kids and small Yorkies. All Yorkies are pretty small Do you want a dog that your kids can play with? Our pup is in a house with 4 adults and we are all very careful about shuffling and keeping her safe. Sometimes it's kind of exhausting, sort of like letting a 3 lb. baby crawl around your feet. Scary stuff. Best wishes for a successful pup search. |

| Welcome to yorkietalk. With your children I would look for a yorkie on the larger side. I have a 4 year old and one yorkie that is 5 lbs and one that is 8 lbs. The 5 lb yorkie is cute but she runs away from my daughter where the 8 lb yorkie is not afraid to play with her. The smaller yorkies are cute but the larger yorkies make a better pet for children.

| Thanks for the replies and info! I don't think a 3lb would be the best bet..but don't want to go over 8-10 lbs either. We travel in our RV, camp alot, and I want one that can easily come along with us! Thanks again....LOOOVE looking at all the pics of the precious fur babies! |

| I just wanted to welcome you to YT and wish you luck in your search. I agreed a bigger Yorkie is best for families with small children. Some breeders won't even consider letting a Yorkie go to a family with kids. My Gucci is almost 5 lbs, and she seems so small. I have 2 kids, 4 yr old daugther and 12 yr old son, and they are pretty good with her. My son sometimes wishes she was a big bigger. I do watch my daugther playing with Gucci, cause accidents can happen. You can check the breeders on YTCA site. Here is the link. |

| Hi and Welcome to YT. I'm in Upstate SC and have a little male pup that will probably be about 7 to 7.5lbs that I am asking $700 for. He is 9 wks., AKC, has updated shots and has been microchipped. If you're interested, when hubby comes home I can send you pictures of him. |

| Our Snickers is raised with 2 Great Danes and a house full of kids, either ours or the daycare I have. The kids and Danes are really good with her. She just lets it known SHE IS BOSS!! Its so cute, her and Jasmine are still 2 peas in a pod!! Oh the stuff those 2 get into you couldnt imagine... Ok well maybe you can, Jasmine gets it off the counter, stove, table wherever and Snickers helps tear it up. I swear everytime I come home I am cleaning something up either paper or a stuffed animal thats shredded all over the house. GOT TO LOVE OUR PETS CANT WAIT TILL PUPPY STAGE IS OVER ON BOTH OF THEM lol At least Sky is 5 and just lays around for the most part.

| my2yorkies...sure, send some pics over. That is a little more than I wanted to spend, and not female, but i will take a peek! I'll tell ya, I've never really been a "pet" person. We've had dogs on and off with breeding, etc... but ever since I started talking about wanting a yorkie, its ALL i think about! I see their faces everywhere, and dream about having a lil one around. its weird!! |
