| Sooo angry!! I was leaving work tonight (local community center) and our theater was holding a 2-3 hour production of Hello Dolly. As i got to my car and about to drive off i noticed a little maltese looking dog in the car next to me. Now the community center was closed at 9, but the theater was still going on for another half hour or more so i knew that the person wasn't coming back soon and also that the dog had to have been there since before 7pm. i called my lovely father in law who is a police officer and asked him about reporting it. he told me how to say it and i reported to the local police. the play got over at about 9:30 so they prob. left before the police could show up, but at least it got reported with their licenese plate and all....these people should be ashamed of themselves. it's cold enough outside and they didn't even have the windows down for any air for that poor dog. it was laying in the back window all sad and alone...i was furious. i hope the police got there before they left and gave them a tongue lashing!! awful huhh? |

| That's sad. Up there, I doubt if they even responded to the call and on top of that it would be surprising that the poor little thing didn't get stolen.

| How sad I hope the police were able to get there quickly. I don't understand why people take their dogs places to leave them in the car.

| That is truly awful. What would have happened if the police got there and the folks were still inside? Would they take the dog to a pound? How would they deal with this issue?

| Good for you -- reporting them! At least if something does happen, they are on record for one neglect. I reported to a grocery store manager that a dog was overheating in the car (gave description & license) out in their parking lot. He was in agreement that it was way too hot to leave a pet in a car so he announced it in an obviously disgusted tone over the PA systems. I saw the lady go out and it was all I could do to keep from saying something, but she looked at least embarassed. I thought later that maybe I should have reported it to the police so they had it on record. My only thought at the time was to get that pup out of the heat before it expired. But I always wondered if she continued the practice. As a previous poster said, why take them if you are going to leave them in the car?

| i think the police would just give them a warning and document or something i don't really know. they won't take it to the pound right away though i don't think. |

| There have been so many thefts of small dogs out of cars, I think the people are NUTS to leave their dog. Even if it wasn't too hot/cold, I can't think of anything worse than having your dog disappear and not knowing what became of him or her. It's awful!

YT Addict | Crazy! The most time I've left Coco in the car is maybe 10 min. max.! I almost never leave her in the car and if I do it's for an unexpected reason! Bad dog owners...

| i had sadie with me and had to go pick up a food order for the coworkers, i couldn't find the carside to go and had to go inside. it was super hot out and i was not about to leave her in a busy outdoor mall area in the heat of a black car....so i took her inside. they gave me weird looks but when i explained i was leaving right after we got the food order they were ok with it. i would NEVER live with myself if she got heat stroke or worse was stolen from me...so i take her with or leave her home in the AC/heat. |
