| Hello from Me & Nibby! Hi, I'm Niblett's mom. I've just had Niblett about 2 weeks now and this is a whole new experience for me. I have 3 other dogs 40-80 lbs! Never have I had or wanted a small dog! I saw this little guy and I don't know what happened. I told my husband it was like I'd looked into those eyes before! We are animal lovers of all kinds. Have cats also and I rehab wildlife but I am really lost here! I feed my large dogs a raw diet, doubt I'm brave enough to do that with Niblett. He is 14 weeks old. He weighs 3.5 lbs. has a fantastic appitite and my vet said he's great looking! Great teeth, knees etc and very inquisitive sparkly brown round eyes! He's a doll! I'm a nurse in Ohio, currently not working so I have a lot of time for "Nibby". Will be doing a lot of reading I see. Working on housebreaking but unfortunately it's getting cold here and going to probably be nasty and wet soon to. Only two problems I'm having right now is what pad to use and how to keep him from tearing them up?? I read about a "rubber" one but so far haven't found it. Have Nibby in a "playpen" type arrangement which is working well for now. My only other issue is play bitting! WOW! He can really get riled up when playing and start snapping. My vet said to hold him down (anchored) gently but firmly until he calms down and not to allow him up until I'm ready to release him. (I have a WONDERFUL vet X 20 years) He loved him but said I need to let the terrior part know who is in charge. Sometimes after I do this, he licks my hand. Reminds me of a wound up kid! Anyway...enough! I will be reading a lot. I already appreciate this group and boy do I need it! Thanks, Jeanie |

| Congrats on your little one. I just recently started using washable pee pads with Sophie and LOVE them. This is who I bought from. Washable and reusable dog and puppy pee pads, belly bands, and diapers at T. Bumpkins & Co.

| Washable pee pads are one of the single greatest inventions ever! If he still wants to chew them, you can get a holder at PetsMart that will allow it to lay flat (like a frame). Make sure he has a chew toy! I remember those little teeth! They are like needles! Ouch! Congrats on your new baby and welcome to YT! There's a TON of great information here and a lot of great folks that can help you out with a HUGE array of items. Check out the library and also search the posts. You can find information on almost ANY topic! from grooming, teething, safety, harnesses instead of collars, shampoos, behaviors, diets (several do feed raw) etc.

| to YT! Congratulations on finding Niblett! Yep, the terrier in them can definitely think they are in charge so you have to let them know you are the Alpha... ok, who am I kidding... mine are in charge at my house Peggy, Monkey & Maddie

| You are going to fall so much in love with your new little yorkie! I have had dogs all my life and got RU almost three years ago and have gone head over heals with them. Now we have Bonnie (8 months old) and I'l looking into getting a little 6 year old yorkie from a rescue! Plus have a lab mix and bichon and cats! For Bonnie I got her a puppy patch their a rectangular pad on platic with the fake grass on top. She took to it right away, funny because when I saw them advertised I though OMG who would use those? I know other people on YT use them and some have tried and hated them. I found my at Petco and I got one on EBay. I have yet to try the washable puppy pads, but hear they are great! Also get her lots of things to chew! They have so many small toys now at all the stores! Good luck and you will fall in love with YT! We want to see pictures soon!

| Welcome welcome. What did your bet say about feeding Nibbles a raw diet. And what exactly do you feed your other dogs. I'm curious. |

Thanks to everyone for all the welcomes also. As far as the raw diet for my other dogs, they eat primarily chicken necks and vegtables, beef marrow bones and a bit of fruit, typically apples. I do have a lab that will eat just about anything! Their coats are gorgeous and my ten year old mix breed rescue has white as snow teeth. Even vet is amazed! Haven't spoken with him about Nibby and a raw diet. I'd love to read about how that is going for the people using one. He has plenty to chew and seems to enjoy his puppy Nylabone really well but still gets into biting spells with me. At those times I'm glad he ISN'T 10 lbs! LOL Soon as I figure it out, I'm going to try and put his pic up. Again, thanks! jeanie | |

| We were in a similar situation when we got Memphis (who is only a bit older than your pup). We have two large labs 75 and 100lbs along with a corgy cross that is 30lbs. It took about two weeks of really watching the pup at all times with the bigger dogs but then they all seemed to establish a working order. The pup is really adept now at getting out of the way in a hurry, especially if someone comes to the door and the other dogs rush. Then one day our youngest and biggest lab (he's 5yrs) started to play with the puppy and he's so gentle with him it amazes me. They play all the time now. I'm sure your dogs will all find a way that works for them to co-exist. And as for the potty training, we started with the pee pad and still have them around but we send Memphis outside with the big dogs and he picked up on the idea pretty quick. Older dogs can really help train a puppy. |
