We were in a similar situation when we got Memphis (who is only a bit older than your pup). We have two large labs 75 and 100lbs along with a corgy cross that is 30lbs. It took about two weeks of really watching the pup at all times with the bigger dogs but then they all seemed to establish a working order. The pup is really adept now at getting out of the way in a hurry, especially if someone comes to the door and the other dogs rush.
Then one day our youngest and biggest lab (he's 5yrs) started to play with the puppy and he's so gentle with him it amazes me. They play all the time now.
I'm sure your dogs will all find a way that works for them to co-exist. And as for the potty training, we started with the pee pad and still have them around but we send Memphis outside with the big dogs and he picked up on the idea pretty quick. Older dogs can really help train a puppy. |
