				 | We currently have four furry children. One 11 yo male min pin/IG mix, one 6 yo female basset, one 3 yo male yorkie, one 2 yo female yorkie. Our min pin mix.... his mother at 9 months old was too small to be neutered, too small to have pups, was being borded and incidentally got pregnant. She had to have a ceseran, so rejected the pups. Due to this, he stayed at the vets until the age of 3 weeks, and then we brought him home. He is very intelligent, a bit high strung (even @ 11 yo), was VERY easy to train (he even sneezes on command) very easily house broken, and never been sick a day in his life. He is a bit protective of all of his humans, but is OVERLY protective of my youngest daughter and once nipped my older daughter when the two got into a play fight. (nothing bad, did not break the skin, but did leave a bruise) he does shed quite a bit in the sping, and somewhat year round. I am unsure which traits you would assign to which breed. Our Basset.............we got from the humane society at 1 year old.....therefore do not know her "formative" fist year but......we took her to obedience classes which she aced, she is very affectionate towards ALL people, she is very good playing with our yorkies, and even when I brought Paisley home at 1 1/2 lbs I never worried that she would hurt her (even though I didn't leave them alone for a long time, her foot was as big as Paisley's head. LOL)she is a big goof, and quite commical, she can be very stubborn, she is very demanding, she does NOT like dogs that are bigger than her, she is a constant shedder, she has had a torn acl, back issues, and her latest.......she has irritable bowel syndrome which almost cost her life (she is on the mend though, and almost back to her old self). I think we all know the general characteristics of yorkies..... Prior to getting Paisley, we had a Poodle/Maltese cross "Sadie" who was very devote, loving, gentle, intelligent, sweet, cuddly and cute. She was never sick until the end when she developed a tumor that was growing at an astronomical rate. She was too old to withstand surgery, so we had to have her pts. If I were to come to a point I were to get another dog........I would look for a mix of some sort, as health problems do not seem to be as much of an issue. Since I have had a bit of variety....the first thing I would take into consideration would be the "shed factor". Although I love ALL of my dogs, the shedding is the one thing that bothers me most with the min pin/ig and the basset. Just some food for thought.

				 | I have a female purebred yellow lab, Sierra. She is my 1st girl. She is 70 pounds to my 3 pound Yorkie (who is almost 17 weeks). I also had a rescue Yorkiepoo that was 10 pounds, that my sister now has and they all get along famously. I have pictures in my albums. It all just depends on both dogs. Well socialized dogs will do great! I am very partial to King Charles Cavalier's. I just love thier faces. I am a sucker for animals though...

				 | This is just the converstaion I needed to hear, we have a lab mix, Harley....and our lil Yorkie, Shay....my Lab is an outside dog...we have to literally make her come in when there is bad weather...she LOVES being outside...I want to introduce her to shay but I am so worried, she would hurt him, not on purpose...but Shay is so small.... How would you all introduce them? I have had Harley in, but there in different rooms...Harley is a sweety, so loving...she is just HUGE! I would appreciate any advise...

				 | Yorkies actually have bigger personalities so your little guy should be able to run the show. They do not know they are small! Selphie (My Yorkie) chases Sierra (My Lab)...it cracks me up. Always be sure to watch them closely, and give Harley extra attention. I was very careful and wanted to hold Selphie at first, then after a couple days of me being in the middle of them I let them play together right beside me so I could measure how Sierra was reacting to her. If it seemed like she was getting rough, I corrected her. It took a week for me to let them play freely. I was always just right there. Stay nearby them and you be the judge. Selphie runs the roost though-Sierra lets it be that way. Labs are gentle by nature. I love them for that. They are also very intuitive and will act according. My girl Sierra thinks she is a lap dog. But only to me. She rests her paw on my lap and her head, when Selphie is on my lap she is very cautious of her. I have given Sierra A LOT of attention and training-it was all easy work though. I have ducks, I love them-they make me laugh, and everybody knows Labs are hunting dogs...I trained her not even to chase them-it took one day. Now they sleep in her kennel! She is outside 65% of the time and inside with me the rest. She loves Selphie. They get eachother in trouble though :-) You can easily train a Lab to fit your needs. Be cautious to still pay close attention though. If you run into any trouble feel free to message me. They should be just fine though- just keep eyes and ears on them. Good luck!

				 | Thanks so much for your response...they are both such sweeties, I know they could be wonderful friends...but I also know they probably feel my fear..lol..so have to work on me too.... Harley is recovering from being hit by the mailman (grrrr) he left the gate open, and didnt see her run out in front of his jeep (thats his story, after we had to chase him down, to own up to it)....she fractured her pelvis and hip.....that was 4 weeks ago...she is up and walking slowly...we had her inside, for first 2 weeks, then my husband built her a BIG dog house on the deck, she is so happy to be outside again, the deck has a gate, so she cant get hurt...But I want her in, esp. with winter approaching...and to tell the truth, I dont know if I could ever let her run in the yard again, without watching her every single minute(even though we have a fence, with a sign) ....so getting these 2 togeather, is a big must..before the cold weather hits.

how terrible i would sue the mail service but if you dont want to do that move your mailbox to outside the fence so they cant come in your yard when i was young we had a lab mix who would fight to get back outside in the winter we had to keep him in the basement in the end he broke a window to get back outside and we had to let him go live on a farm. I know the kids will take responsibility for the new dog i mean they are not small kids so i know a dog who needs to be taken to the local dog park (about 5 blocks away) will get to go they take Gatsby after school everyday and he just sits there for an hour while the kids throw balls and run around

				 | We have a bichon who is absolutely adorable. I would definitely have another one if i could afford to. She is a bit bigger than my yorkie, but so loving and snuggly inspite of her horrific past.

You should see Lexi's Playmate. I should take a picture and post it. 120lb akita chow chow. IF any dog messes with 7lb lexi, her friend will growl at them. LOL!!!

				 | Well we have Roxie of course, and a chow chow puppy named CC; My husband always wanted one, and we are trying to properly train her so we dont run into any aggression issues. I swear she has to be the smartest puppy ever, catches on to tricks and such in minutes, she is doing tricks that Roxie still hasnt mastered..lol...Though I wouldnt trade my Roxie for anything in the world..lol.. |

				 | We have contacted the post master, in our town, he was useless....dumb as a box of rocks....and I have written letters.....the mailbox is outside the fence....he was bringing a pkg.... thing is he has been told for 6 yrs. to leave the pkg. OUTSIDE gate....or leave next to front door...there is NO reason to open gate what so ever...but is about 20 more feet for him to walk, so laziness is why I am sure. Havent even gotten and apology, or a how is she NOTHING!

then my only advice would be get a lock on the fence so they cant open it my family went through this years ago when a mailman maced our sheltie for kicks. luckily the neighbor got a video of it because the same mailman kicked his dog the week before, so he was taping his yard and porch and ours. eventually we went to city council and they sent us a formal apology.
