| Akc/ckc Ok I have a question. My little Happy is AKC/CKC regiterable. I just registered her online with AKC and got her pedigree as well. Is it important for me to process her CKC registration as well. From what I have read mostly everyone prefers AKC registration and CKC usually doesn't mean much???? Not sure if I worded that right. P.S. In now way am I trying to offend anyone. Just want to put that out there. I have just read that just about anyone can register a dog CKC but only pups of parents who are both AKC can be registered with that org.

| I don't want to offend anyone either, but I'd only go with the AKC. I sold a non-papered Yorkie pup to someone and she sent pictures to CKC and they actually registered the dog. The dog was a purebred, but CKC had no way of knowing that...no info on parents. We all know a pup can be a mix of 2 different full-blooded breeds and come out looking like one or the other. If that pup I sold was actually mixed (though looked full-blooded), she could have bred it to an AKC male Yorkie and ended up with mixed breed pups. |

| There are two CKC's. I would do both AKC & CKC if you are going to Breed, If not hmmmm, I would probably get both anyway just to have.

Canadian Kennel Club has strict rules like the AKC. You can't just register anything by sending a picture.

| If his parents aren't both AKC, he can never be AKC. AKC can be double registered with CKC, but not visa versa. |

| I think the most important thing that should be considered when looking for a pup is the breeder, regardless of if the puppy is AKC or CKC registerable. It would be just as easy for you to be sold a not-pure-bred dog that is AKC as it would to be sold a not-pure-bred-dog that is CKC. Aquiring papers for a pup depends on who the breeder reports the parents to be. For example, if I had an AKC registered female and male and a CKC or non-registered male. Which kennel club would be able to determine that the 2 ACK dogs were really the parents? What would stop someone from breeding the AKC female and the non-registered male, but claiming the pups were from AKC parents? Does that make sense. I think you really have to put alot of trust in the breeder--that piece of paper, regardless of the kennel club, is only as good as ANY breeder says it is. |

| The breeder was a hobby breeder in OH. Her and her husband only have a litter once every other year. She offered me paperwork for all 3 and sent the paperwork today so I was wondering if I should just worry about the one or just go ahead and register with all 3. Thanks for everyone's advice. Kinda new with the whole registration thing.
