If you didn't get a Yorkie, what would your 2nd choice be? Saw this on another forum, thought it was a good question.I was thinking of getting a Pug or Boston terrier, befor I got Max.If I were to get a big dog,it would probably have been a Boxer.Glad I got Max,I made the right choice. |
A little white Chihuahua. |

I think right now I'd say Scottish Terrier. I really love dogs and my answer would probably change daily. I wanted Yorkies for so long its really hard to say if I'd ever get another breed now. |
It would definitely be another type of terrier. I just love the in-your-face spunk, their energy, and their strong personalities. |
Before I got my yorkie , I also loved the shih Tzu breed.. It was a toss up for several months. I did get a yorkie though first, and ended up getting a shih tzu a yr later . I really like pugs, westies, & fox terriers too :D |
I have a great love for dogs and at the same time, I was cursed with dog allergies!! I got a Yorkie because they were the cutest among the so-called hypoallergenic dogs. Now I have two :) I'd love to get a Shetland Sheepdog or an Australian Shepherd or a Golden Retriever or the favourite of the month: an English Springer Spaniel. But this will have to wait until I have a family who can help give the dog attention (because I can't touch it as much as I do with my Yorkies). I refuse to let my allergies get in the way of owning all the dogs I want :) |
I've raised 3 English Bulldogs and they are gentle and sweet. But, I would not be able to handle their size and strength anymore. So, I would want to go with a Schnauzer or a long-haired dachshund. I also thought about a Pomeranian, but the shedding would be a big problem for me. |
We had Prissy, poodle, for seven years before we brought home our darling Jasmine, yorkie, so I would get another poodle. We love Prissy's disposition, she is always such a lady, very well behaved, extremely smart and loyal. If I ever got another big dog again, it would prob. be a German Shephard. I always had German Shephards when I was raising my children and they were so good with them rough housing, very loyal and a lot of fun. However, I doubt I will ever have a big dog again, too much dog for me to handle any more, but I do love the breed. |
A Maltese, I don't think I will have another dog that sheds, my boyfriend has two that shed and there is always hair everywhere. |
Maybe a pomeranian or a daschund |
I considered a brussels griffon, but they're very hard to find...One of my friends has a yorkie, and, finally at Christmas (2 yrs. ago.) I made up my mind to get a yorkie, too...What a great decision!!! |
|
I have always wanted a yorkie, and new I would some day have one. Papillon was always my 2nd choice...now however it is the Biewer. And I will one day have one!!;) |
my favorite small breed picks(of course, Yorkies being #1):Westies, Jack Russells, Scottish Terriers, Pekingese, and the Bolonka Zwetna breed is nice also, although only recognized by small groups outside of the US (Bichon Frise variation). my favorite large breed picks: Alaskan Malamute, Bullmastiff, Great Danes, Weimaraners, and Whippets. |
I would like a shih tzu some day. |
1 Attachment(s) I'd get another little girl Maltese like my sweet Holly I still miss her so much. |
I love, love, love my yorkies and I don't think another small dog would do for me. But my #2 choice would definitely be a standard poodle. I can't stand a dog that sheds. Poodles are smart and fun dogs. My past groomer raised them, I loved to go by the shop and visit with them. |
It would probably be between a westie and a toy or mini poodle. |
I would have a Westie or a Carin Terrier. |
Before Ziva found us, we were considering a coton de tulear, also looked at havanese, and poodle mixes.Knew it had to be non- shedding but was not keen on keeping the white coat up.Now it would be another yorkie! Big dog- would have to be another wheaten or a mini-labradoodle or goldendoodle. |
Biewer |
A Yorkie, naturally, and a Cane Corso. That is the combination that keeps giving, and they compliment each other. The best of both worlds. |
4 Attachment(s) Doberman! :2hearts2:I love the velcro dog! Beau & Blue came along so it's going to hold off until whenever I am ready to have a beautiful Doberman. I am very happy that B & B came in my life! I don't recall if I made a confession on forum but I never liked Yorkies except my bff's Yorkie. Same with Bichon Frise but later realized that ALL breeds are awesome and I shouldn't dislike any breeds. lol Blue wormed into my heart before I realized it. I was attached to him than his brothers & Kari (my bff) saw that and ambushed me with the present. I am forever grateful that she did. He's an awesome pup! Here is my beautiful Doberman that passed away two years ago. 1 & 2: Pearl adored Fifi (I didn't name her!!) very much and they were always together. When Fifi passed away, Pearl was not the same dog until Beau & Blue came along & she is back to her old self again. She loves her little brothers! :) |
I would have to say that my husband and I would go for a German Shepherd. We both grew up with German Shepherds and I think that breed is amazingly loyal and intelligent. |
After getting Zhoie, I love the small size. If I was ever to get a 2nd dog, it would definitely be a Biewer. They are so beautiful! In a large dog, for several years we were blessed with our sweet Abbie, a red doberman. She was the sweetest, gentle, most loving girl and so greatly missed everyday. Couldn't handle the big dog's strength anymore, but if so, it would definitely be another Dobbie. |
I have so many breeds that I love...I have had Afghan Hounds, Bassett Hound, German Shepherds, Boxer. I got another Boxer who is now 1 years old. Probably would have gotten a Shepherd. |
I have had poodles and cocker spaniels but i would prefer non-shedding type dogs. Biewers, Maltese, poodles, coton's all come to mind but my ♥ will always be with the little brown/tan yorkies!:aimeeyork |
I originally wanted a Maltese...then I met Levi. I've had a miniature poodle in the past, and he was a wonderful dog. I'd love to have another someday, but right now, I can't imagine anything other than a YT! |
Boxer!!! PBGV Boston (?) Hound of some sort Mastiff Dane |
