I could not imagine getting anything other than a Yorkie but if I did it would certainly be Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I think they are just adorable. |
A husband :D :D |
A Skye Terrier!! But I am blessed to have both!:) |
Right now I could not imagine owning another breed besides a yorkie, but I have always loved Shelties. They are gorgeous, have gread dispositions and are smaller. I could not see myself ever owning a large dog. Small dogs are just so convenient and they can go everywhere! |
I like Westies and Scotties as far as small dogs go. I just enjoy that terrier personality. If I were to get a big dog, it would be another Golden Retriever. |
My hubby said he would never have another dog other than a Yorkie. Can't believe I won him over since he wanted a Golden before he met Sophie. However, I guess I would take a mix of some little dog with a poodle. I hear they are smart and easy to train. I LOVE my Yorkie but am tired of cleaning up poop. After 9 years, she still will use the floor when it rains or if we are gone too long. |
I only have one dog now and have a lot of choices for my likings of breeds for later down the road, besides a Silky or another Yorkie. I think my number two choice would be Papillon for sure. Westie's are definitely a third choice. I love any small sturdy energetic terrier, like Cairns, Border Terriers, Norwich, etc. As for bigger-ish dogs (I will own a bigger dog someday just not for a while until I'm in my own house), a Border Collie, Australian Shepherd or Golden Retriever. I like energetic dogs ;) lol. I would love a German Shepherd trained correctly (we had one growing up but never put the effort into what she was capable of) but I don't know if I have the personality for a GSD. There's a few breeds I love but will probably never own, I don't exactly know why. I love Boston Terriers, Boxers, Rottweiler's, etc, but I probably wouldn't own them. |

It really should be research before you can determine if they're a dog you can handle. Quote:
But seriously, I love my spunky, yet calm yorkie. These little dogs are true individuals! I would love to have all sorts of dogs. Big, med, small, it doesn't matter! I'm limited by my allergies though, and to be truly honest I hate all that shedding. I'm a clean freak and that would just drive me up the wall! I think my choice would be a Biewer, they're such gorgeous little dogs! But... we'll see. ;) |
Definitely a Westie or a Coton De Tulear! |

Through researching the Silky Terrier because so many people told me that's what Jackson looks like, I've really fallen in love with them. He's totally got the description personality, temperament and looks. I love that they still have the prettiness of the Yorkie (hehe) but are really sturdy and have stronger bones in general, and fewer health problems. They are the best of both worlds, IMO. I've totally researched a few reputable Silky breeders and I have a slight feeling, whenever I'm ready, I'm gonna end up with a Silky. |
I have ALWAYS wanted a yorkie, and of course I skimped and saved to get little Taycie... I looked at so many other breeds that were of course ALL adorable but everytime I tried to consider something else.. In my heart I KNEW I wanted a yorkie! My next choice would be Biewer for sure! I think they are so goregous! Papillon, Italian Greyhound, or a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! If I lived in a house I would get a Weimeriner, Brittnay, Golden Retriever or rescue a big mutt from the pound! But for now while living on my own and its just me and the dog... YORKIE through and through! |
Little dog it would have to be a Biewer Big dog german sheppard |
I've always loved my Italian Greyhounds and never imagined getting a yorkie, but Liz happened. I feel blessed, she has been great fun and I love her to pieces. I also love agility. It's so positive, the dogs love doing it, and its a great sport for a single person who likes weekend trips and meeting new people. So I've wanted an active dog, and really researched the Portugese Podengo, Border Collie, and Pyrenean Shephard. I also want a dog with some hair that can handle a little cold weather, as Italtian Greyhounds FREEZE. It's rather pitiful having to undress a dog before going into the ring and seeing them shake at the start line. :D Lizzy has turned into a pretty good little agility dog, but she will be in the 8" class. If I had picked out a little next dog, I would have gotten one that jumps at least in the 12" class as there aren't many 8" dogs. It means it will take more trials to earn MACH points. :aimeeyork |
A morkie or a shorkie |
I am totally in love with the look of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I love their eyes. Cost prohibited me from getting one the last time I was looking. They cost around 1000 around here. I got a pomeranian and love him to death. I would prob get another pom. |
Hmmmm, K..In my post I said Maltese because I was considering a Biewer to be a yorkshire terrier, in that case a Biewer would be my second choice! :D |
My choice for a small dog would be (besides a yorkie) Chinese Crested (Powderpuff) or American Hairless Terrier Large dogs would be Dogue de Bordeaux Great Dane Greyhound Irish Wolfhound |
Small breeds would be a Havanese, Biewer, or Parti-Yorkie Larger Breeds would be a Standard Poodle, Great Dane, or Border Collie |

I love the Yorkies but I also love the Chinese Crested breed. I've owned two in the past (Powerpuffs) and they are wonderful little dogs. Very healthy, sturdy (good with kids), and smart dogs. For big dogs I would have another Boxer, awesome breed! Teresa |
A Chestnut or bay Mare, Warmblood, probably a Westphalen or Dutch... maybe Canadian... lol btw those are all horses. (Harley was a huge step down in size from what I'm used to....) |
I would have picked a pomeranian, or a maltese, i just got another yorkie valentine but i was really thinking of getting a different type of breed. |

I'd get another sweet little Maltese too. RIP my Casper. |
A Yorkie or nothing After having George for nearly 2 years now, there is no way I'd have anything else than a Yorky, they are the best, cutest, cuddliest, sweetest dogs around, he is my little darling. Yorkies rule in my book, had other dog breeds but I'm sold on Yorkies:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbu p::thumbup: |
We have 2 yorkies and 2 schnauzers. I would have to say schnauzers. They don't shed, which I love having no hair anywhere and they are sooooooo smart. They are just like talking to a human. Love'em. |
Poodle. Having had a good experience with one growing up. I know them to be smart, fun and can have some great personality. |
Brussels Griffon because of their squished in face! They really look like they might have a lot of attiude! Or a teacup poodle...so i can call her Madame Josephine La Pompadore! Or maybe a chi whom i could call Cha Cha! Lastly, a West Highland Terrier that i would name Angus McFadden McDonald!! |
I had a King Charles Cavalier for 13.5 years. He was an adorable little guy. I had no health problems with him at all. |
