| ![]() Hey! I have 2 boys, same age, same litter, same breeder. I took home 2 boys from the same litter, almost 5 years ago! My boys are just over 5 years old. Only 1 had a murmur. I have no idea what grade though. It took a year to close and he was carefully monitored by the vet during the year. It did close on it's own though. I will pray that your Harlie's closes on it's own also! I just know the waiting and anxiety and sadness you feel while you are waiting for it to either close or not. It's awful! Its always on your mind. Luckily once it closes it's closed for good and she's good as new! ![]()

| ![]() I'm sorry you have to go through this. I wish you strength and positive thoughts. Positivity helped me through an issue I had recently with my Max.

| ![]() I want to thank you all for your thoughts and wishes. We went to visit the clinic yesterday evening and got a chance to really talk to the doctor. We have the ultrasound for next Wednesday to see what's going on inside this little girl. The procedure is a little expensive, thank goodness I insured her when we first got her. We were told that anesthesia for things like her spaying and yearly professional teeth cleaning would be a major issue with a heart defect which was kinda depressing but hey, we'll take one step at a time. I'll let you how it turns out, Best to All, Don |

Have you checked with your insurance company? I don't think most cover congenital conditions. | |

| ![]() Yes, thanks for asking, I bought the Petplan Gold policy and it covers congenital defects as long as there were no symptoms prior to the effective date. She still as no symptoms and seems normal to us. |

May I ask how long you've had her? Petplan has a two week waiting period after enrollment before it becomes effective. I read she's only 11 weeks old now, and most insurances won't cover puppies much younger than that. While she may not be showing symptoms yet, she has been diagnosed with a heart murmer, correct? This information will be shown in your vet records which are available to the insurance company. Best wishes, Bonny

| ![]() Hi Bonny, She's actually 12 weeks now. I enrolled her on the 24th last month so we are just outside the waiting period. They didn't say anything about her age and had no problem taking my money very qickly, I think we're good to go. I have submitted a pre-qual claim for the procedure just to be sure but haven't heard back yet. Not any symtoms yet but the doctor said it's loud. Thanks, Don Last edited by dwells1959; 09-16-2010 at 05:04 AM. |
