| I think it is great to socialize Yorkie's with larger dogs, but very carefully and with an attentive eye. I wanted to post a warning to watch the dogs food bowls. My uncle has 2 pom's and a golden/lab mix. Last month one of the pom's, who usually gets along great with the larger dog, snuck into the garage and started eating the larger dogs food. The usually timid dog went crazy and grabbed the pom in his mouth and threw it. Unfortunately, the pom did not survive and my Uncle's family is devistated. I too don't want to scare you, but would feel worse if something happened and you had not been warned of the possible dangers. Dogs will be dogs, and like stated earlier - they have instincts that they will act on. My dog, Laila, loves all dogs - but I am very cautious and watchful. It is always the dog you least expect that will go after your pup. My friend has a pitt-bull who is great w/ Laila (I am super duper cautious and always stand about 3 feet from her at all times just in case - I am aware of the pitt nature). My other friend has the laziest bulldog you have ever met. I have never seen him run or anything, lol - but I put Laila on the floor the other day about 20 feet from him and he just took off toward her. I couldn't believe it - I scooped her up w/ plenty of time to spare, but had never seen the bulldog move so fast in my entire life! Just use caution and be overprotective before under. Good luck - I hope this information helps!

| We also have a golden, but I havn't had the guts to let Cody and Ciera play together. I have taken Ciera to the fence and let her touch noses with Cody and Ciera acts like she wants nothing to do with him. I would like to know when would be a good time to let them get to know each other? The real reason I havn't yet is because Cody is just two years old and he is really rowdy still and I have to watch him with my son too because he doesn't want anything but to be loved and petted, but he doesn't really know what too rough is and he rubs up against Hunter to be petted and knocks him down and then he wants to lick him to death which terrifies Hunter. What should I do??

| I have a 75lb golden retriever and a 3lb yorkie and the golden is like a big brother to Toffee. He lets him have his way all he time and they even play together. I think it's a great idea! Hope it turns out well and keep us updated! |

| My aunt and uncle own 2 Pekinese that are only 8 pounds. And a Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever (Sebastian) is very loving and protective over the 2 Pekinese (Cheez and Chong). Once a big dog got in their yard, and Sebastian chased them away trying to protect the little guys. He never tries to hurt them and is real gentle when playing with them. |
