I would like to know when would be a good time to let them get to know each other? The real reason I havn't yet is because Cody is just two years old and he is really rowdy still and I have to watch him with my son too because he doesn't want anything but to be loved and petted, but he doesn't really know what too rough is and he rubs up against Hunter to be petted and knocks him down and then he wants to lick him to death which terrifies Hunter. What should I do??
I think you should do what I am going to do- slowly get them used to eachother. Mine are going to be separated all day while I am at work, and when I get home, I will let them lose only in the rooms I am in. It seems as though everyone on here has a golden (or some other big dog) and a yorkie. It sounds like, for the most part, it is positive pair. AS LONG AS YOU MONITOR at the beginning...or forever if need be. It is nice to have both types of dogs. It is almost like how people have cats and little dogs. If a cat wanted to, it could kill a yorkie with one swoop. But that doesn't stop people from having one big happy family. Just start slow. But I don't think you should wait too long or they will suffer from not socializing with eachother....which could make jealousy an issue.
Everyone here has been so supportive of my situation with having a golden and a yorkie. I am happy with my decision- thanks to all of you!!!!!
