Recliner warning

I am sooooo glad Wolfie is ok! What a scare. I was afraid to read yr post because we have recliners too & they have scared me @times.

I think it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, to physically force his lil head & neck thru such a tiny opening. Still makes me feel ill to think of it. You would think manufacturers would put some type of screening where they are unable to get in. I cannot use a pillow or anything to block it as ours doesn't back up to a wall. I have to figure something out that won't mess up our warranty on it either.

We do the head count too. We have 2 recliners plus my couch reclines. Dudley was at one time pretty bad about getting under the front part of the chair. Like I said we just do head count before we get up. I think its like their own little cave or somewhere they can get private. I don't know what makes them want to get under there. Scary as heck. Something else to watch for too is if you have a storm door. My husband came in and unknowing closed Dudley between the storm door and wood door. Thats how tiny he was at the time. He started barking thank goodness because who would ever think of them getting there... Glad your baby is okay. I can imagine how upsetting that would have been.

Bug stood for awhile between the storm door and back door once. Wasn't until I heard some subtle scratching that I realized where she was. My DH can be obtuse. We have recliners on both ends of our sectional. Love 'em. We have a ritual where we throw a 'tantrum' pounding our legs on the up part of the footrests before we get up. That brings all the critters running out. Then we do a head count. If we're really in a hurry we just leave the foot rest up and get up from the side without lowering it. Can't be helped. Just can't take the chance the girls and the cats can all fit inside the mechanisms.

Thank god yours are okay. I can't imagine how terrified you were.

So glad to hear your baby is ok. When we got Emmie the breeder went over a list of things with us. This was one of the things on the list. We already had one yorkie but she asked us if it was ok to talk to our little girl. Well she was 10. She went over how important it was to know where your baby is at all times. To watch about closing doors.

I really liked that she did this. There was some great info. Things that alot of people do not think about.
