Bug stood for awhile between the storm door and back door once. Wasn't until I heard some subtle scratching that I realized where she was. My DH can be obtuse. We have recliners on both ends of our sectional. Love 'em. We have a ritual where we throw a 'tantrum' pounding our legs on the up part of the footrests before we get up. That brings all the critters running out. Then we do a head count. If we're really in a hurry we just leave the foot rest up and get up from the side without lowering it. Can't be helped. Just can't take the chance the girls and the cats can all fit inside the mechanisms.
Thank god yours are okay. I can't imagine how terrified you were.
