Floppy Ear?

I use a Whal Peanut.....pretty save.......you can pick them up at Sally's. I also use them for their foot pads.

When I got my little guy both ears were up - now at 3 one is up and one is down and it is soooo him and I LOVE it but i totally understand wanting both up

I tried to shave max last night. His hair is already super short from the shave 2 weeks ago. The *ahem* bikini line trimmer and the Wahl clippers made too much noise. I'm just not confident grooming myself and never really plan to so I didn't force the issue. When he fell asleep I took hair scissors and gave him a great little ear haircut. He didn't even wake up. I was able to cut very short.

I'll try that with Fynn tonight. Tucker him out when I get home so that he's all flopped out and sleeping and take the scissors to his ear. I don't really feel comfortable shaving it or taping it, but I'll give it a go...

I've been using surgical tape which you can pretty much find anywhere. Just like the website Mardelin listed earlier, you have to fold the ear in 1/2 and then start at the very base (cartlilage) and wrap the ears.

I've done this for the most part for 2 consecutive days and have kept it on while Max sleeps through the night. This morning they are 1/2 up! They stick straight out to the sides or straight forward, but they aren't as floppy as they have been. I think I'll leave the tape off for today and see what happens. He seems to be carrying them differently, as if to know they now exist. Keep in mind that they will try very hard to scratch the tape off. You will probably have to reapply often.

I also find it easiest to tape while sleeping. It may not be the best idea because then he won't get used to me with other grooming methods, but it works for now.

12 weeks is still quite young. They will most likely stand up on their own. But taping will hurry them along.

BTW how is he doing have the tremors stopped?

you can also tape them unfolded. And you can leave it on for 3 days, then take it off for a day or two, if they start to droop again, retape them. The
more you do it the less they fight you.

I here so many conflicting things about the ears. I hear that most stand up by 12 weeks.

The tremors still continue, but they are about 70% better. The specialist is thrilled because the meds he's on doesn't always work for focal seizures. He goes for blood levels next week.

most do, but some don't. There have been posts on here that they have come up on their own after a year.

Do they think he will outgrow it?
