Floppy Ear? When I brought Fynnlie home, both of his ears stood up just perfectly. They were perfect. But now, I'm noticing that his left ear flops a little when he runs. Not enough to really do anything, though. When he's standing up or walking around, it's perky and perfect. But, when he runs, just that left one flops. Any suggestions on what I can do to make it stand up again? Or any thoughts on why it has started to flop? Thanks! |
Rizzo's ear has started to flop over, it's being weighed down by some hair that I need to shave off. |
Sometimes shaving them will help, sometimes you need to tape them for a while. But I'm thinking if it was up, it will go back up without taping. Sometimes they droop when they are teething.. If you are really worried, I'd try shaving first, if that doesn't help, then tape it for 3 days. |
my lil ones ear is doing the same thing time for the groomers i wanted her hair to grow out longer but for her ear to stand up it's off to the groomers |
What kind of tape do I use? He is teething, but what does that have to do with making his ear flop over? I'm just curious. I had a Sheltie before Fynnlie and Jaxx's ears flopped like mad! |

You can use masking tape, strapping tape, electrical tape, just about anything. Just make sure they are clean and dry first. |

Do I just tape his ears up? Like, put the sticky side against his fur? Won't it get caught? |
He is teething. Sometimes his ears will go up and down while he is teething. If he hasn't had his ears trimmed by a groomer...the hair will weigh it down. So, maybe his ears need to be groomed, if they have already been groomed then you can massage the base of his ears and that will help. I would try what I just said first before any kind taping. |
Beamer is two years old and his right ear always flops down. His ears are trimmed. I don't think he could be teething at two????? Can he??? |

Some roll the ear and scwrap tape around it, some put a strip across from one ear to the other. Some just fold a piece of tape around it. It usually gets caught in some of the hair, but it comes off easy. There are videos on how to do it. I'll try to find them for you. BRB :D |

Teething can make the ears floppy :) |

Jon-An's Yorkshire Terriers (How to train Yorkies ears to stand) Teething, growing and testicles being seated into place pull a great deal of calcium from these wee ones. You just have to keep on top of them. Trim ears once a week, keep the weight off of them. If you see the flopping; tape them. |
You guys are so helpful! Thank you! :) |
Does it really matter if the ears dont stand up? my pups ears have always flopped, never stood up, wasnt really expecting them too, should i? |
