My name is Erin, and I am a Petfinder, CL, Hoobly, and E-bay Classifieds Addict. Now that I have my city limit of 3 dogs, I'm trying very hard to break my dependency on these sites!

Instead I focus on spoiling my babies to death... and then I get consumed by that!

I don't agree with many of the stipluations that rescues have. I've adopted from an awesome rescue before, and if they had gotten a Yorkie in they would have let me take it no questions asked! They know how good we are to our pets.

So, I choose to look for a private owner re-homing one, and even though it was a 4 hour drive each way... I think we did the best thing. Because now when it's time to welcome another in our home (later on down the road) I'll be able to say "Yes I've had a Yorkie, yes I had other big dogs with my Yorkie, and yes I had my yorkie around small children!"

I'm so addicted, I got the i-phone app!

Right now, I am totally obsessed with two little Biewer boys in Atlanta. I have six dogs, if I'm not careful, I'm gonna end up on one of the hoarder reality shows!

I can totally understand, I just reassure myself because at least all my pets are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and eating a fantastic food & raw combo diet. Lol, I tell myself that real "hoarders" would never be able to be this good to their pets. So, as long as you can manage financially and emotionally giving them the love they need, then I say go for it!

Absolutely! My dogs are all on a high quality diet, my house is very clean, at least cleaner than most homes with children, and my vets would go to court for me. I spend thousands every year on dentals alone! With over four dogs over the age of 14, my vet bills would make most people choke. Add the cost of agility classes, toys, collars, leashes, coats, beds and fleece throws (an obsession my IGs got me into) and many people would think I should be institutionalized. I tell people I could drive a Mercedes if I didn't have all these dogs, and I mean it! But I can't love a car like I love my dogs.

I don't even know you, but I love you already! I may not be able to afford a mercedes, but perhaps a new Taurus or Fusion... but instead of us getting to go out for dinner all the time, or driving new cars (we are striving to be debt-free), our fur kids come first! hahaha

It's paid off...that's how I found Riley..just from browsing...

I still can add one more dog per the county...so I will continue to browse

I like looking at petfinder, humane society, no kill shelters, etc, but with 3 dogs, 4 cats (and a roomba which I highly recommend to keep the house not looking like a zoo), I can't as much as I would love to get another pet, it just wouldn't be fair. Everytime I drive by the park on my way home, nothing makes me smile more than a dog wagging his/her tail, tongue hanging out with that "happy walk"!!

My daughter and I both volunteered at a no kill shelter last summer, and despite the sweaty work, it was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

The people at these shelters/adoption agencies really have the animals best interest at heart.

Here's too all who adopt these animals and give them a forever home!!!

Aww, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats too! I would think a roomba would be overwhelmed here, lol. Last time I volunteered at a shelter I came home with a kitten, so I can't do that anymore! lol

Very dangerous indeed. My breeder is also my trainer. She slipped into the conversation one day, well with your "next" yorkie... then a day or two later hubby said something like; maybe we should think about Razz getting a playmate

And the problem is; those two statements have been a rolling around in my head for some time now

Well truth be told...the 4th cat was supposed to be a foster cat. My son came home (he is a few miles away and lives on campus at school) and said his friends were taking care of a cat with kittens and their landlord said when the kittens are old enough they need to be given away to good homes, and the momma cat needs to leave. Sooo he said Please, take her temporarily, I said NO, he said Please, please,please, and I said ohhhh o.k. Got her spayed and my daughter fell in love with her she is a black long hair is mellow as can be. So she is very content in my daughters room and she is very happy. My husband wasn't, but got used to her and thinks she is a very sweet cat as long as she stays in her room!! I also got the riot act read to me about working at the shelter, but there were so many people that wanted to adopt, and the shelter really looks at the well being of the animals and screens potential owners, that i wasn't so tempted to adopt any.

Anyway can never turn my back on an animal that is thrown away like trash.
I think all of the people on this forum are in the samd mindset...
