YT Addict | Potty Training ! ! ! as some of you can probably tell, i have ALOT of questions, and i greatly appreciate others advice and input on alot of things, since i am new to this. i've had Hazel since 3 pm. She ate in front on me, and then a few minutes later, peed on the carpet. i said "NO" and then cleaned it up. we were out at the pets stores, she was fine, i was expecting her to pee because she had water before we left house, but she didn't. as soon as i bought her home, i put her back in my room. she started the sniffing around, and i know what this means, but for some reason since she wasn't going in "circles" i convinced myself that she was just familiarizing herself with my room. Then she peed. again, i said "NO" as i picked her up and placed her on the puppy pad. this time i cleaned up her mess with the pad and put it beside her crate. Now she was taking a nap, and when she woke up, i let her roam around my room. my angel started sniffing... she went to the puppy pad and smelled her pee from before on it, and then pooped on it. im so proud of her! i praised her and gave her a little piece of puppy treat. Now is there anything else i should be doing? eventually i want her fully crate trained, and using outside. But i know that will happen with time. |

I know you already know this but since she is very very young it will take lots of time and patience to potty train. It's like a newborn baby, they just don't have it in them to hold it long. You need to keep her confind and take out onto her pads frequently. Don't expect much because shes only 8 weeks old. This is why she should still be with mom for another few weeks. Please don't bring her to the pet store or out of the house for any kind of trips unless it's to a vet. She can catch something so easily and DIE! You just got her today she shouldn't be going out at all, she needs to adjust to a new home. | |

| My Poppy is not potty trained at all. She poops and wee's where ever lol thankfully when she wakes up i take her straight to her puppy pad and she does a wee and i get all excited and she wags her little tail... my Poppy is only 5weeks old tho so i dont expect anything from her at this age only to eat and drink lol. When Hazel wakes up put her on her puppy pad and use a word like ''go potty'' so she learns when you say that word to go to the toilet on her pad. Also after she has eaten and had a drink take her again and put her on her puppy pad. If your training her to go outside then do the same but instead of putting her on her pad take her into your yard or garden. She should learn that ''go potty'' and doig what you asks recieves alot of praise and attention.... mabye even a treat xxx

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Your doing it right, a firm NO! when she goes in the wrong place then put her straight on the pad, with lots of praise when she goes in the right place. The potty signs change as they get older (well they did with my pup). When I first brought Poppy home she would cry, sniff the floor and walk backwards when she wanted potty.. now she just sniffs the floor so you have to keep a close eye on her. Also once she has the pads nailed start gradually moving them closer to the door if you want to eventually train her to go outside.

YT Addict | With starting with a new puppy in our house, we started taking Winston outside every half an hour. I have heard that trying to ppee pad train and then convert to outside can be more difficult. After learning Winston's schedule, he goes out every hour and I know he will go #2 in the morning and in the afternoon. As soon as he starts sniffing around he goes outside or if he wakes up from a nap, after playing or after eating. So far we have been really successful and haven't had a handful of accidents. This morning he even told me he had to go out. After we have a successful trip outside, he is praised and given his favorite treat as a reward. As for crate training, he has access to it all day with his toys and bed being in the crate. When food time comes, his bowl is placed in their as well. Since we got Winston he has slept in the crate at night. He doesn't like it and neither do I, but it is the safest place for him until we get a bigger bed. The first night he cried a lot, but after I fell asleep he stopped and ever since he cries a bit till he realized he isn't coming and then goes to bed. He also hasn't had any accidents at night or woken up to go outside in the middle of the night. So far, I must admit I have been very lucky with him!!
