| Snail bait that is safe for yorkies? I'm wondering if anyone know of a snail bate that kills the snails that are safe for yorkies(dogs). Snails are eating my flowers but I'm so scared of killing my baby if she eats the snail bait! Thanks for your help!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I don't know of any pet safe insecticides, but there are natural remedies to keep snails from you plants: Copper strips-wrapped around the flower pots or used as a 2 inch high barrier in beds deters snails. Diatamacious earth and lava rocks are too rough for the snails to crawl over, so they keep the snails at bay, too. With all of them, make sure there is no vegetation hanging over the edges that can make a bridge from the unprotected areas to the plants you are trying to protect.

| It can kill your baby. Read the instructions carefully, there is usually a warning on the container that says it isn't safe around pets. Check out www.gardensalive.com. I believe they have safe slug bait.

| I have had a terrible problem with slugs this year and found a product that is safe for pets and wildlife and also can be used in vegetable gardens up to and including the day of harvest. It is called Slug Magic and is an iron phosphate. I still keep my dogs from going in amongst the plants where I've put this stuff, but it's nice to know it won't harm them if they should. Other names of iron phospate which are safe for pets are Escar-Go and Sluggo. Good luck! I use it for slugs, but it kills snails too.
