Actually if you read the whole thread you would see she was advised to take her girl to the vet in which her response was she just could not understand why a vet was necessary.

Didn't we just read in the breeder's section where an accidental breeding led to a small yorkie birthing 2 or 3 puppies and the "breeder" standing by and letting the first puppy die because she didn't know the mama needed assistance in getting the puppy out of the sack??????

Joria could need a c-section, she could miscarry, she could die. You certainly took some risks with her life. Why would you do this to your dog that weighs less than 5#??? I don't understand why Joria wasn't spayed--she is too little to be bred.

In all honesty, and no "bashing" from me, you need to get your little girl spayed ASAP. If you don't know or haven't been studying on assisting, your little girl is in danger of losing her life. It is even more dangerous for a bitch that weighs less than five pounds. If she hasn't been health tested, and neither was the male you run the risk of having sick puppies. Also, if you didn't have her evaluated by those who know this wonderful breed, you don't know whether she is capable of carrying and whelping this litter all by herself. There are way to many variables that can make this a disastrous situation if you haven't studied the breed, your bitch and sires lineage, and have a well versed mentor who can help you in case anything goes wrong. It's better to have your little girl spayed now than risk major heart brake later.

Did you see the two dogs tie? Do you know What day it was? You need to count 63 days from that day and mark your calendar.

You need to read and learn and ask questions. Get a couble of good books and read them, and research on the internet. Deb Jensens site is a good one.

Consider taking her to the vet around day 58 to get an xray to determine the number and size of the puppies and the possible need of a C section.

Although the breeder section can be intimidating, they will be there to help you through it when the time comes. not all of them will bash you.

There are many very experienced breeders that have seen everything and they know what to do. They could write a book on breeding.

If you prefer one on one help, get to know one of the breeders and PM them with your questions. it's less intimidating.

Just ignore the people who have no advice but just want to bash you.

Just to clarify. It is not necessary for 2 dogs to tie for a girl to concieve.

Your girl can whelp anywhere from the 58th day of the first breeding to the 63rd day of the last breeding. The day they were bred does not mean that is when she concieved.

You take her in for an x-ray on the 55th, if you wait until the 58th day, she may have gone into labor. You want to be prepared; x-rays though not always accurate, will assist you in the number of pups she has concieved, their position, etc. An ultra-sound will help you with your girls reproductive organs.

Thank you for the corrections.

I was told that their bones do not start to calcify until day 57 and would not be visible in an X ray until that time.

To the OP, go by what Mary says, she has done this 10 times longer than I have.

Yes, you are correct. However a complete penetration is not necessary. The ejaculate is devided into 3 sections, with the initial ejaculation being what is necessary to impregnate.

Sheesh, I try my best to not make ANY mistakes with my two. I'm not a breeder, I will never breed, but if I did I would not make any mistakes. Darn sure would not want my doctor making any mistakes when I gave birth.
