| Cooper Attacked a Bluebird! Cooper rang the potty bell and I opened the door for him. As soon as I opened the back door, I saw a giant, gorgeous bluebird sitting on our patio. I ran as fast as I could to catch Cooper, who clearly saw it too Cooper actually grabbed the bird in his mouth and the bird screamed!! I picked Cooper up and was able to shake the bird out of his mouth and the bird scurried away, limping as fast as possible. I don't think the bird was able to fly even before Cooper attacked him, or he would have flown away. OMG I can't believe he did that. He always barks at them but I didn't think he would ever go after them.

| Oh no!! It is so hard when the terrier comes out in these little guys. Poor bird. Did Cooper enjoy the chase? LOL!

| There was no chase. It was about 5 feet from the door. It was just a vicious attack. I feel so bad for the bird, but I'm glad it was able to get away.

| Oh my goodness, Cooper!! A couple of other people here on YT have had their dogs catch birds. Britster's Jackson is one. Tell Cooper to leave the Bluebirds alone. Mockingbirds and Starlings are okay to hunt. In fact, can you send Cooper to me to take care of the Mockingbird that sings outside my bedroom windows all night? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I refuse to believe that sweet little face is a killer. The blue bird must have been doing something wrong and Cooper was just telling him to knock it off.

| Well, he's not a killer because I was able to save the bird. But I bet he would have destroyed it like his Bobo toy. I think his smile is a wicked evil grin. Maybe when I took that photo of him on the way to the park he was thinking "i can't wait to jump in the mud".

| Crazy when their instincts come out! Jackson has actually CAUGHT 2 birds now. They've been stuck inside our screened in porch (this was at my dads house) during the snow storm early this year and we let all 3 dogs out not knowing birds were stuck in there... well Jackson jumped off the patio furniture and caught the bird! That bird survived and flew away and we managed to get all 3 barking dogs back inside. A few weeks later... a bird flew himself into a corner on the floor and Jackson put it in his mouth but the bird died. I don't know if he shook it's neck or if the poor bird had a heart attack!

| Cody is too wimpy to do any real harm to anything, at best he would run away, but my grandparent's Chihuahua has caught 3 birds now. Another person on a dog forum I am on had her dog (It was a bigger breed, in the Sporting group so imagine instincts) kill her group of 8-10 ducklings because she left the door open then had the nerve to get so mad at the dog she said she kicked the crate a couple of times (and more stuff she said, but never did). I mean it was the dog's instincts and her irresponsibility that lead to the event yet she got mad at her dog, calling her a killer. Sorry for venting that for a minute but my point was instincts are a powerful thing, amazing how you think it won't happen but it does lol |

| A few years ago Lil Bit brought a squirrel into the house! I found her and one of the dachshunds (I had dachsie rescues at the time) playing tug of war with it. Then last year she brought in TWO mice - she had killed them both - in her mouth, and she was so proud of the fact that she had caught them! But, that is why the Yorkshire Terrier were kept in the Yorkshire mills, to keep down the rat population. It is their instinct. Actually on the squirrel we weren't sure whether it was Lil Bit or a dachsie that brought it in to the house, but as she was quicker than the dachsies we assumed it was her.

| Cooper, Cooper, Cooper! Did you try to give mommy a heart attack? Pebbles is a killer too~the latest was just last week when my husband let them all out into the yard. There was a sparrow sitting on the patio and she bolted out the door and leaped 3 feet into the air and caught the poor thing in midair! The hubby is still talking about it too. Then there are the bunnies that cannot/have not figured out that hanging out in our yard is just not good for their health! You would think when a crazy pack of pups all losing their minds barking at them they would just stay away. Let's not even talk about the squirrel they chase up the tree every morning. The thing runs up and down the tree making a chattering sound as Pebbles and Dbug try to climb up to get him. My neighbors must think we are all nuts! I guess the lesson here is that Cooper is not allowed to ever visit our house or he will pick up all kinds of bad habits.
