I'm so sorry to hear about the horrific incident that happened to poor Maddie. I would be off the wall. I can't believe the vet hasn't called you back. I would be taking myself to her office. I need to schedule my dog for a teeth cleaning , but now I'm a little nervous to do so. I'll make sure they know what she is there for. I pray for a fast recovery for Maddie and a good resolution for you. |

Kelly say she (kelly) feels really bad for what happened and so does tammy---i said that tammy should be the one talking to me not you. she said she plans on calling you this evening and that tammy was at a kids ballgame right now--i said you know this is BS, my dogs are my kids and maddies my baby! i trust you all and treat you all as family--and you all have sadley disapointed me and i have loss all trust in the office-- oh and why was maddies head soak and wet when my son picked her up? well tammy felt bad and put maddie back under to clean her teeth, tammy felt it was the least she could do-OMG Are you frickin kidding me??? you knocked my poor dog out again to clean er teeth after you screwed up the first time??? again kelly said she was sorry and tammy would probably be calling tonight--so far nothing---needless to say im even hotter now finding out they put her under a second time.:mad::mad::mad: there was a few other things said, but just alot of were sorrys ect, and we feel bad, and yes maddies chart is marked that she was already spayed from a year ago and no one caught it--:mad: |
Again Thankyou all for letting me vent and all your kind words and support;) |
I know how angry you are, and you should be, but I'm a little worried about you. Please take care of yourself too, Maddie needs you healthy. You're a great mom, thats obvious, but lets face it as moms we always put our kids first, instinct. Please take a deep breath hold your baby close and hang in there. I'll send so extra special prayers for all of you, I hope you find some peace soon. |
She didnt get much sleep? thats her excuse? If she wasnt in a condition to work, she shouldnt, she is sitting in some office, she is performing surgery on peoples babies! I am so sorry this happened to you and your baby! I hope you are able to find a new vet that you like and can trust. :( |

What! Her excuse was that she didn't get much sleep?? If she were a Human surgeon, not only would she get sued BIG, she'd have her license revoked and lose her practicing rights. I would expect pain meds to be free of charge and I'd find a new Vet. I'm so sorry this happened, I'm glad your baby is okay. |
This is just unreal! Poor Maddie having to go through all that and now have more recovery...and they put her under a 2nd time? My gosh...that is crazy! I'm so sorry you and Maddie are going through this. I can't believe this all happened...it makes no sense at all! |
wow, its bad enough they did a surgery that wasn't necessary but then they anesthetize her AGAIN to clean her teeth after they open up her belly? WHT is wrong with them? A lot of vets won't do a spay and dental at the same time because when they are cleaning the teeth they are scraping off all that bacteria which then can get into their system. So bacteria plus a abdominal surgery is NOT good. I hope they sent her home with antibiotics at least. The vet is not handling the situation well at all. She should have talked to you personally, not sent her intern so she could go to a ballgame. It is ultimately the head vet's responsibility to ensure all patients and clients that walk in her doors are taken care of properly. Lack of sleep is no excuse. Many medical professionals lack sleep. it goes with the territory unfortunately. If she felt she couldn't do her job properly then she should have canceled surgery for the day.... I hope Maddie recovers well and quickly. |
I think I am like most people who read this, absolutely incredulous! Your poor baby, I hope she recovers quickly. You'd think they would have had Maddie's chart out and checked it and seen that she was spayed. I hope she recovers quickly. Lizzy and my seven month old IG foster puppy both have a little tattoo'd greenish blue colored line on their belly about where the scar is from the spay. I don't know if this is something new, but now that I've heard what happened to Maddie, I like that they have it. |
First, I just want to say how sorry I am for you and Maddie to have to go through all this. I can't believe they re-opened her to do the dental. I thought that was really dangerous!!?? Now, even if mistakes happen (is this a common mistake at all??) I cannot fathom the fact that the vet did not call you immediately and profusely apologize. It says a lot that the intern was the one who "manned up" and came to your house, and the vet couldn't even pick up the phone!!:( I hope Maddie recovers well and quickly (Bandit had his first dental today too-- so he's in recovery mode). I hope you get a call from your vet and are able to express your frustration-- this even has me angry and frustrated!! Hugs! |
I cannot believe they put her under again! How could they feel that was safe? I don't understand the original mistake, but then to top it off with that! (fuming) and then act like they were doing you a favor:confused: and why was her head wet? I also thought when you have your animal spayed/neutered, there was paperwork to be filled out consenting to that specific procedure - another oops. What if your dog was never spayed and you didn't want her to be? And I think one of the biggest reasons people in the medical field get sued is not because they made a mistake, but because they then don't own up to it and apologize. If somebody says we totally screwed up, we are so sorry, yes, I am still mad, but if nobody ever calls to even say were so sorry, then I am wanting them to know what they have done to me and how they have hurt me and wanting them to pay. And as you said, you can see the scar. My girl was spayed over a year ago and I can see the scar - why can't a trained vet? I'm sorry that happened. Hope she recovers quickly. Might consider another vet, I sure would. |
Geez.... the vet still hasn't called? The interns story is only making the vet look worse. I agree with Armani Man, who cares if she didn't get enough sleep, she went ahead with a procedure she was obviously not ready to do! If she didn't get enough sleep YOU JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!!! A phone call from the vet before hand saying, "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well. I'll have to postpone Maddie's procedure to another day. I hope that's ok." Would have been less trouble! |
