| I tried and tried and tried to get my little girl, Apple, to use pads, and it just wouldn't work...About 7 or 8 months old, I gave up, and started w/the outside, and she was housebroken in about 2 weeks! Even if it's raining (not too hard), she'll go outside real quick, and come back in...My boy, Buzz, came "almost" pad trained, and for a while, he would go on both, and I loved it...Now he won't go on pads, at all... ...I'd love for them to do both, but sometimes they decide what's best for them lol...On the upside, those durn pads get really expensive, so if you have the opportunity to outdoor train, it's definitely more cost effective...Congratulation on the upcoming baby...ewwwwwwwwww so exciting! |

![]() If I'm not home and he has to go, I'd be so happy if he didn't need to wait for me, you know?

| My little yorkie is pad trained and also working on outdoor potty training. She is finally understanding why we go outside every few hours, is for potty time.... then she can run around and play. Princess is taking much longer to train than my pomeranian puppy (Ty). He was fully trained before he was 4 months old. Hoping Princess will be fully trained for potty outside soon. I do want her to do both, since she hates wet grass. I can only imagine what she will be like when we have snow. |

| *sigh* Lexi was sooo great at the potty training.. In any house, if we laid the pad down, she'll potty on it.. My boyfriend would always take a roadtrip to see his parents and she used the grass with no problem.. Then again she had 8 years of potty time.. ![]() I should ask my bf for tips too.. I think he did a fantastic job with our Lexi..

| my Pixie does both. I got Pixie when she was 8 weeks (yes I know too young, but I did not know that) It was in November when I brought her home and cold in CT so we pad trained her all winter. When spring came I started taking her out when I took Daisy out. Pixie will pee outside when I say go pee pee and I think that is the key to have a word that they can learn. She pees on the pad as well. As far as poo she prefers the pad but if we are on our walk she will poo right on the walking trail

When I was walking my brother's pug, he decided to just squat and poop.. right in front of a random house with the owners glaring at him. ![]() Yeah they don't like me now.

| I'm trying to train Charlie with both the pads and going outside. In the last 4 or 5 days, he's been doing great with going outside but not as good with the pads. Sometimes he'll pee on the pad but he'll never poop. I made several mistakes along the way, though. The first was I didn't crate him. It felt cruel to me but now that I have read and learned more, I realize that would have been the best route to go. I also put down a lot of the pads thinking the more accessible they were to him, the better. I think, in hindsight, it was a bad idea. He'd coming along pretty well now, though. With the kids out of school, my daughter is doing a great job of trainig all sorts of things. |

| bella is both.. when we are home, she goes outside so we always keep the door open. And i also keep the pee pads when we are not home because i dont think that she can hold it for long time. Even that some people say yes.. i just find it bad if she has to hold it when im not home. BELLa goes to the pads when im not home or it is raining.. (in washington there is always rain) so hopefully your puppy will go both.. pads are always handy and easy to keep your dog inside! Plus you dont feel guilty to leave your house for long hours! |

| Our two little ones are trained on both, but I agree to concentrate on the pads first. Outside will come naturally! Best of luck!
