| Sassy's last days Sorry for the test message yeaterday. I had trouble loggin on. On May 4 2010 I posted a message on Sick and Injured forum about Sassy's condition. Within a period of 10 days Sassy our 4 1/2 yr. old Yorkie went from a happy, fun loving Yorkie to a dog that could only go in circles, head tilted to left, partial eyesight, and partially paralized mouth. We took her to the NC State university Vet Teaching Hospital where she had an MRI and a CFS analysis. She was diagnosed with inflammatory encephalitis, a horrible brain desease. She was given a Cytosar infusion and sent home with Prednisone and Cyclosporine. She was to continue her Cytosar with shots at the local vet. Her condition stableized for about a month and she had some quality of life. Because of the paralisis of her mouth she had dificulty eating, then last week she could not open her mouth enough to eat. She had bloodly stool and had two seizures. We took her to the vet where she had another seizure while with the vet. They stableized her but later on she had another seizure while at the vets office. At that time we all decided it was time to let her go. While she was seated on my lap the vet gave her her last shot. As she laid in my lap I watched her take her last breath. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my 70 years. (Excuse me while I wipe my tears so I can see the keyboard.) I have had many dogs over my lifetime but never one like Sassy. She followed me whereever I went and wanted to be involved in whatever I was doing. She loved to play and would greet me at the door with a ball in her mouth. If I was sitting and looked to her like I wasn't busy she sould fuss at me until I would play with her. She had several games she would like to play and she would decide which one to play. Thank you for letting me share Sassy's story. Sassy's Dad |

| I'm so very sorry. I understand how you feel and the loss you have endured. Many of us on YT have lost yorkies and it is no less painful for one than the other. Sassy sounds like she had a wonderful life with you and that should give you some comfort in the days ahead as you mourn. My heart goes out to you during your time of sorrow and don't forget that you always have fellow YTers to share your stories with about Sassy. She sounded like a wonderful little yorkie.

| Oh, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Sasse. It is so hard to lose a little one when you have become so attached. Most of us dog lovers have been in your shoes at one time or another and feel your pain. I know 4 1/2 years was not nearly long enough with your sweet girl. It sounds like you took very good care of her and did everything you could. Your final and hardest decision was the very best one for Sasse. My thoughts and prayers are with you. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I know there is nothing I can say that can ease the pain you feel in your heart - all I can offer are my condolences and know that you are in my prayers for God to help your heart to heal with all the wonderful memories you must have. Sometimes it helps to talk about them - please know we are all here to listen and share the good times as well as comfort you in your time of sorrow when and if you would like to talk. I am so sorry for your loss.

| They are our family and when the time comes the pain is unbearable. She knows you loved her and you did what you could to ease her suffering. You were a good and caring Dad. Remember the happy times you shared.

| Of all the loving and amazing times you have shared with your Sassy, to hold her in love and support while she made her transition is a most precious gift. Sending you support and well wishes as your heart heals. May your precious Sassy rest in peace.

| I am so sorry for Sassy's loss. It sounds like you did everything you could to give her the best life anyone could ask for! I know how horrible it is making the decision to end their suffering, we had to do it 2 years ago with our 4 year old dobergirl. But it's a merciful decision that you had to make and I know that Sassy loves you for loving her enough to let her go. I wish I could give you a big hug cause you definitely need one. We are all here for you!

| I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is lose a beloved furry "baby". We lost one of our kitties a few months ago and have missed her terribly every day since then. This kitty was like a "Mommy" to all the other rescued kitties we have brought into our home. It is especially hard when they are healthy one moment and then suddenly very ill. What made it even more difficult was the fact that my husband was on his way overseas on business travel and would not be home for 5 weeks. The day he left, our kitty suddenly declined further and with the help of our vet, we tried so hard to turn things around. My prayers are with you. |
