| ![]() Well, I don't know if it is meant to be, a sign, or what, but my neighbor's friend lives a few houses down and he was over and going on and on about how beautiful Prince is. I knew he had a husky also. He said if we decided to rehome him, let him know. Well, we talked to him, walked down to his house, let the dogs meet and they played like crazy. Guess he was really happy to play with a dog his own size. So he asked if it was ok for him to stay tonight and see how everything went with the two dogs. So he is there now. I really hope it works out since my husband and I could still see him all the time and we know the man really loves his dog and spoils him rotten. He will be able to be in the house and have a playmate his own size. I don't know if it is the best thing, but I am really trying hard to do the best thing for everyone. My furbabies are relaxed again and able to rule the roost like they are used too. I think this experience showed my husband that having just the little "prissy" dogs isn't so bad. lol He can just get a yorkie of his own! LOL Thank you so much to everyone who gave me their input and advice. I really hope that people don't look bad towards me for letting him go, I really and truly am just trying to do what's best for him and the other babies.

| ![]() I don't blame you for being upset. Siberian Huskies have a very strong prey drive and are not good choices for home with small dogs and cats. This is especially a concern when you bring an adult dog into your home. I can't imagine the tension in your household since you can't ever leave them alone unsupervised. I pray the new home for Prince works out. |

| ![]() I don't remember whether you got the dog from a rescue or not. Did your husband research the breed and was the husky small dog tested before you got him? I don't know anything about that breed or what the breed traits are like, but it is something to keep in mind. Rhetts Mama was right on with the suggestion of training. Dogs can be helped with separation anxiety. Plus, the dog might get better once he settles in. It might sound awful, but there are medications that can help the dog with this too. It is better than letting a dog suffer with anxiety if training and behavior modification doesn't work. From my experience with IG rescue, I can tell you that some of my fosters have come into my home and its like they have always lived with me. Others have taken a week or even a month to settle in. What I do know, is they have all gotten better and living with them got easier as they learned our routine, got comfortable, and learned to trust me. Every dog is different and there is no set schedule for when that happens. I do think you should give the dog a little more time, and try to be patient with the disruption to your household and schedule. Good luck!

Sounds to me as though this might be fate and the dog is where he is meant to be. Don't be hard on yourself, sometimes things don't work out. Hopefully things will go well tonight and the dog will really "fit" with your neighbor and his dog. Let us know how it goes.

| ![]() I remember in the news that a husky had killed an infant .... That they really do have a very strong prey instinct. I hope that your neighbor can keep your new husky , and things work out for the beItter. It was a good thing that you kept them separated , he is a beautiful dog, just not right in a yorkie home.

| ![]() I sure hope it works out with the neighbor! I wasn't going to post before. I think that your husband totally should have his own dog at some point, but not when you have little yorkies and are concerned for their safety. That would be such a great solution, hoping it works out for you!

| ![]() I really hope it works out with your neighbor... I don't know if this is too much, but my husband had a siberian growing up, and along with another they took out a whole flock of sheep... Killed them all because they got the taste of blood ![]()

| ![]() It can work with all kinds of precautions, and there have been a few times that our GSD has started to get carried away but they are never left without someone to watch them simply because of a 71 lbs difference. I never leave our house without putting Mystic (GSD) in her kennel because of many huge glass doors and windows, but that is more my own fear. I am a stay at home mom so 90% of the time they are playing together and laying together on the sofa or love seats, it took time, but it can work!!!

I hope your neighbor can keep him. Your hubby can still see him and your yorkies will be safe.

| ![]() Thanks guys for the support. I know that I made a huge mistake not doing the research I should have done. With the yorkies I read, researched, and the learning never ends. I didn't follow my gut on the situation and I know that my husband just liked the idea of the big dog. Not sure if he has gotten a hard time from his friends or not when I come pushing the babies in the stroller at the ball field. LOL Maybe he felt he needed a big dog to make him look manly or something. Whatever the reason, I think we both agree that our home is better off staying a yorkie home for now. I feel like the breeders on here I got my babies from trusted me to be a good mommy and keep them safe and that is not living up to their expectations bringing another large dog in that could do them harm. It's early and haven't gotten to talk to the neighbor yet, but the fact that he wasn't in my backyard this morning might be a good sign. LOL I am really praying he is happy there. He wants a playmate and maybe there he can have one that can keep up with him. I'll let you guys know when I talk to him.
