Want to be a good wife, but having some resentment. : ( 3 Attachment(s) Well some of you may know that we just got a new Siberian Husky from my previous thread. My husband really wanted a big dog, and I didn't feel right saying no since he has accepted and loved my furbabies despite initial rejection. Well I am having a ton of resentment towards this new dog and I hate it. I just feel like he has turned my babies' lives upside down. I have to keep them seperated since he wants to play with them but doesn't realize how big he is. He has serious seperation anxiety, which I'm sure is due to the fact that this is his FOURTH home in his short 1 year of life. He has to be right near you or he is howling and crying. Chloe hates him and is scared everytime he is near her. They are ending up in their exercise pen way too much. I want to love the dog, but I just feel like it's not fair how much life has changed for the others. How can I be a good wife AND a good mommy?? :( |
Thats a tough one. You want to do the right thing, but at the same time your babies world is turned upside down. I would be worrried the husky would hurt the little ones. What does your hubby think about the situation? |
Btw, its a beautiful dog:) |
It is a beautiful dog. Could you hire a trainer to come to your house to help them all get adjusted? He can learn to play well with them in time, despite the difference in size (my 70 pound golden and 15 pound doxie were the best of buddies while she was alive). Bringing a new dog in (no matter what the size) always results in some growing pains. I wish you luck. |

I hadn't thought about a trainer. That might not be a bad idea to try. |

Thank you so much. : ) I appreciate that. |
Sorry you are going through this, he is handsome, I think lots of exercise, and a trainer or some classes for him will help, I just can imagine how stressful is, for you the whole situation, hugs to you. |
its not going to get better if they cant be around each other what i would do is sit on the floor with one of your dogs in your lap and let then get to know the husky but if you are right thear you can read the body signals of both dogs to see when it is time to end the play you might want to look up signs of scared nervous or aggressive dogs(when it comes to body language) im not saying one of your dogs may be aggressive and then they may be able to get used to each other we had to do this with Gatsby and my grandmothers sheltie and he is only 26 pounds i also think a trainer would be a good idea |

You can not Take it from me. Siberians will kill yorkies. I am not trying to be a know it all, but this I know. |
I've had a Husky and based on personal experience, I would say the only way it's going to work is if your hubby is committed to it and willing to walk that dog twice a day for at least 45 minutes each. It would be even better if he could bike ride with it. Those dogs really need a job or they will get destructive. I also would worry about your babies as they do have a strong prey drive. Of course, maybe your new family member is different but if he's anything like the huskies I have known your hubby is going to be doing a lot of exercise. I would imagine a trainer could help too.... Good luck and keep us posted. |

Gosh I wish I had never agreed to this!! I knew I didn't want this but wanted him to be happy, but I think it's really just going to make EVERYONE unhappy in the long run. :(:( |
Aw...Kristie, I am so sorry. I hope things get better for you. I agree a trainer might be good for Prince. |
