| Mean or Smart? I had a lot of work to do this afternoon (I'm a freelance writer), and no time to play with Trixie. But because I work from home today, I knew she would be begging me for attention. So I took her out for a long long long walk in a big park. We hiked for more than an hour up and down hill. I knew this would wipe her out for the afternoon. Is this mean, or do you do this too??? It worked, she is fast asleep in her bed next to me She had lots of fun walking in the park

| Anything you do with them that they enjoy and have so much fun at cannot be considered mean, even if you were trying to wear her out so that she would sleep and leave you alone. I'm sure she had a ball and enjoyed every minute of her walk. I'd say it is just smart on your part. |

| I think that was a great idea. Yorkies love to walk. You took the time to give her a great fun walk, and now you are getting your work done, and she is resting up for her next time to play.

| Being mean would be putting her in a crate and telling her to go to sleep. Doing an enjoyable activity that tires her out is being a good mom, in my opinion.. |

| I have to walk Loki to wear him out just to make him normal. Otherwise he races around the house like a crazy dog. I also take him to doggie daycare at the END of the week so that he will be tired and snuggly all weekend when i am home with him :-)

| I make sure we play a lot on Thursday nights, so I can watch Survivor in peace. Otherwise, my two would be bringing me their toys and barking all through the show. |

| I do the same thing. I work at my office until 12 pm and come home and work from here the rest of the day. But, the first thing I do when I arrive home is take Desi out for a nice long walk. She loves it, I get some exercise, and I have a couple of hours of peace to get real some work done. Everyone wins..

| When our nieces come over, all three are wiped out. Yorkies love to play and investigate their "domain" I guess the kids are more fun than I am. |

| It sounds like a good idea to me. I'm sure she enjoyed the change of scenery and the extra mommy time as well. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I'll jump on the "Great Idea!" bandwagon. I do that with hyper kids, too. I have nephews and nieces who are just way too wound up when the arrive for a visit. I take them for a hike and get them running, and voila, they become good kids. Bad for a dog would be locking them in a room.
