I'll jump on the "Great Idea!" bandwagon. I do that with hyper kids, too. I have nephews and nieces who are just way too wound up when the arrive for a visit. I take them for a hike and get them running, and voila, they become good kids.

Bad for a dog would be locking them in a room.
