| Moisturizing Spray and Brushes Almost everything I read about grooming says that a dog should never be brush dry. That water or a moisturizing spray should be used. My first question is this: If you use a moisturizing spray before brushing your pup, what kind do you use? I'm looking for one that doesn't leave a residue and smells good. My second question is this: What types of brushes does everyone use. Thanks for the replies! |

| I think any quality conditioner diluted down works well. I like to look at the ingredients in the conditioner first to make sure it doesn't have too much oil it as this is what I previously found to leave that residue. I use a natrual bristle brush, a slicker brush, and a flea comb for the real thin areas and around the eyes, etc. I have found that if Schatzie's coat is very clean and already brushed out at night I gently brush her "dry" but start at the bottom of the coat. Every morning is when I spray a conditioner/water mix on her.

I used to use Pet Silk and also like their products but Im liking Vellus more. Less oil ingredients are in Vellus and I really am noticing a difference in Schatzie's coat. YEAH!!

| Right now i use a anti-stat spray to comb mojo's coat. I use a pin brush without balls at the ends, i find that slicker brushes (since they are made to remove undercoats) break the yorkies coat in a way that we don;t even realize...i also finish by combing with a metal comb and i use a small comb (like a flea comb) to comp around the eye area. |
