Help please, I'm a little confused - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Hi everyone out there it's me. My baby arrived and I was so thrilled it didn't help that the flight was almost a hour late so you can imagine I had such anxiety

. Well now she is home and so am I so if anyone responds I don't think I will get it until tomorrow when we go to work. O.K. here goes, she is adorable and quite the vocal little girl

and she has a thick coat of hair. Her ears are already quite perky at 11 weeks but I noticed that on the back of her feet she has an extra toe pad on the side and one of them has two nails coming out of it. Is this something that I should have removed or is this common. I have never seen this before as well as I have another question..... Even if you get a baby shipped shouldn't you have a guarantee or something that you should sign. Like I said earlier I won't get this until I get to work tomorrow so if you want to call me please do at 510-302-7101.

Congratulations on your new puppy !!! I have to say....Weird on the toes ! Growing up back east...we had a cat that was double pawed...it was a good traite in cats but I don't know what to say about a yorkie with an extra toepad with 2 nails....Wish I could see a picture....

I guess you can expect she'll have really great traction with the extra ?

If it poses no health threat and you are keeping her.... then I would just not worry about it.

Just make sure that you keep these nails trimmed well. You can always have them removed when your dog goes to the vet for teeth cleaning or if you choose to spay her. I've never heard of 2 nails coming out at the same time from the same place. Hmmm.. Also, I would think that there would be some kind of guarantee which would include a signature from both the seller and the buyer. Don't know how it works when it involves shipping.

Hi, Thank you so much for the picture. It's not the dewclaw but it kinda looks like that picture with the extra toe on the back foot up on the side and one of them having an extra toe nail that is curled coming out of it.....

Thanks a bunch I wish I had a picture then I would send it. If I can get the picture thing to work tomorrow I will take a picture tomorrow

Your name looks so familiar...I wonder if I know you? Newayz Congrats on your new girl...Yea the foot extra paw thing sounds like it could be an extra, like an extra finger humans can be born with. Also the guarentee, do you mean like a health guarentee from the breeder or from the airlines. If you mean from the breeder you probably would have signed one before the puppy was shipped to you, or else now its by word. If you mean the airlines, I dont think they offer any guarentees, just insurance if something were to happen and the pup did not arrive alive while in their care, but you have to purchace that insurance before the plane ride. Shes with you so that wouldnt matter anymore. Hope I could help and congrats again!!

So glad your puppy arrived safely! Sounds like an extra toe like in a "mitten kitten"...but maybe a little deformed or the breeder just didn't clip the nail back. Show it to the vet when you take the pup and see what they have to say. They probably won't want to remove it unless it causes the pup problems.

I wish I could see a picture of it to understand more. Im sure it wont be a problem , But id have it checked out just the same. Good luck with your new baby.

Hi there....yes it's me we had spoke in detail about a bunch of stuff. I reside in Berkeley. I finally got her and she is beautiful

but the next day I noticed the extra pad thingy and I was just in awe because I had never seen that before. When I spoke to the seller I was never told about this so I was just wondering if I should ask were the Mom and Dad like this and I also wanted to know whether anyone else out there has this or if I'm just one of a kind . Regardless I love her a whole big bunch I will just need to be careful whn grooming....... I'll post a picture soon after my co-worker gets in and shows me how

Okey dokey I will. Hopefully I can get an appointment today and then I will ask them. I'm glad she arrived safely too. When I went up to get her after waiting for almost an extra 40 minutes

I could hear her talking. She is quite the vocal little girl and she just gave me plenty of kisses so I was really happy. She doesn' like the puppy pads....as a matter of fact if I have the whol floor covered in pads and one little space uncovered she will go for that one little space

. Unbelievable butI still love her. I have a nice backyard and enclosed fron so I was wondering is it safe to take her in the grass even though she has had only one set of shots. I heard from someonet hat her immune system isn't fully up so Ishould be weary of taking her even in the grass because of fleas and she can't fight off if fleas get on her? I don't know I'm a little confused on that but she did seem to do much better on the grass and she had no problem.......Thanks in advance for any help you could give

I'm going to try and take a picture of it to post as well as her....she is sooooo adorable. Right now she is with me at work sleeping. It's so hard to get to because of her hair and he doesn't like Mommy messing with her toes

If you're planning to have her spayed, maybe you could have the extra nail removed at that time. Seems like having two might make for more problems cutting them or having them catch on something and tear.

Congratulations on your furbaby, aren't they the cutest? I'd just ask my vet about the extras. One would think the breeder would mention it but if it doesn't bother her, then who cares.
