Far too many animals end up in shelters and being put down because their owners didn't do all the research. When you are ready, perhaps you could consider a rescued Yorkie. They adoption fees are considerably lower than buying a pup from a breeder. They are normally spayed/neutered already. And best of all, you would be doing a wonderful thing for a pup that needs a second chance. You are going to be a terrific owner when it's your time. |

| ![]() I'm sure others have seen the same thing, as it seems to be a trait, but when Chloe comes to me ( whether it's me that initiates it or her ) and I stop to pick her up....WHY does she dart away??? ( and she's not afraid of us ) It's this constant back and forth that's maddening and I'm not sure how to stop it. Does yours do the same? Anyone figure this out? Thank you! |

![]() No you don't have to be well off financially to own a dog. Of course it is a good idea to have either very good pet insurance and/or a small fund set aside in case of an emergency with your dog. First time dog owners do very well as long as they have a good breeder who will help them before, during, and after you get your puppy. Reading and talking to others to prepare you for a new puppy will help you immensely! You sounds like you would make a fine first time dog owner. You are asking lots of questions and that is how we learn. we were ALL first time dog owners at some point ![]() About that breeder, I cannot say if she is legit, I don't of her. But I can say that they sure didn't look right to me, right off the bat I noticed that, and having puppies outside that young bothers me a lot.. Running through the dirt, the plants, and then the size of the parents she mentioned.. way to small to breed. I have a 3 1/2 pound yorkie, she is 5 and there is no way I could see her having puppies (she was spayed at 10 months). I do not understand why someone would breed such tiny dogs. Those pups she had were what I call a pretty normal size. and i think some of these breeders who say they have teacups and micros are just big fat liars.

| ![]() Len1yorkie, may I ask how old are you? I'm a student as well and I just got my first yorkie. It takes a lot of responsibility to take care of one. I'm still a student so the financial is an issue for me as well. I used to be somewhat a shopaholic. Now, all i shop at is petsmart =] hahah I keep my little first before everything now. Maybe you can start saving and find a good breeder and start there, bits and pieces. The money isn't the only issue. You have to make sure they spend a lot of time with you especially when they're a puppy, and for yorkie they likes to be with you. |

I was thinking of exactly the same thing, how can she let them outside when they're so small? What if they get lost or stuck somewhere. If I had all those babies, I would keep them indoor right next to me so can I watch their movements.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Hello, I too am from the U.K so your not alone. If your looking to get a yorkie in the future then this is a great site to learn about health issues. To find a reputable local breeder you can conact the kennel club for ones near you with pups available once you know your ready for one. I do know of one breeder in Cambridgshie who owns a small show kennel and some times has pups available. The word t-cup has only really crept into the selling language in the u.k in the last few years, before that people would just advertise them as toy or miniature as a way of giving people an idea of the expected adult size of the pup. Although I have recently seen some selling the tinies for very high prices which is a big indicator of they're motivation. I'd say the average price for a pup over here is £450-£550. |

| ![]() Hello!! welcome to YT!!! I am the proud mommy of a very happy 8 almost 9month old boy named Monster.. He is a very robust 8 lbs!!! lol.. i still carry him everywhere and to be completely honest i thought i wanted a smaller one, but when u hear 8lbs, 10 lbs, u think of that as a bigger dog,, it sooo is NOT.. my lil guy is PERFECT.. If i wanted to i could probably dress him up real cute or stuff him in purse..lol.. , but once u own a yorkie u kinda forget all that foolishness.. I am so in love with him and he is so in love with me.. Yorkies literally fall in love with their mommy or daddy and will not leave ur side.. THE BEST DOG EVER!!! ((in my opinion)) Also, I have a california king bed that is a lil high and he jumps on and off with no problem which he couldnt do safely if he were any smaller.. And because ur baby will adore u so much, u LITERALLY will be stepping all over him/her when he/she is a puppy so i like that i dont have to worry about if he gets underfoot he will get hurt.. Also the health issues.. Thank God my Monster is a good size, cus recently he was ill and would not have made it if he was a tiny lil thing.. so dont be disappointed if u get a good sized dog, they are the best!! and yorkies are a TOY breed anyway, so they are all small.. ![]() |

She also makes references to her dames going into heat every 4 months- to me that signals that she is over breeding them (JMO).
