| Puppy sick after shots Hi everyone!! First thing is I finally posted a few pics of my new baby Hayley, hope ya all enjoying lookin at them. I took Hayley today for her second set of vacinations she will be 10 weeks on sunday the 23 of oct. The breeder had her first set when she was 6 weeks 5 days old. The question I have is it normal for Hayley to not feel so well tonite? She isnt as bouncy and active as normal, she may even have a fever. I have never had a inside dog only big outside dogs and I never noticed any recation to vacines before. If anyone has any info on this please let me know for I am worried sick about her, ya know how us first time Mommys are! Thanks so much and I am lookin forword to being a part of YT!!! thanks Sherry Dee |

| Hi Sherry Dee!! Sorry to hear Hayley's not donig well after her shots. Yes it is normal, she's so small, and they really don't like shots. (I know I don't) Just keep an eye on her tonight, she should feel better in the morning. Make sure she drinks water. I'm sure you are woried, but hang in there!! We are here with you! (((((((Hayley)))))))

| I agree with others. Sometimes they feel a little out of sorts after shots, just like babies. A more serious response (vomiting?) should be reported to vet immediately. I recommend keeping an eye on her for the next 24 hours and she should improve. Be sure and let the know what happened this time so when she gets her next vaccination your vet is aware of the situation. Last edited by shelbysmom; 10-20-2005 at 02:56 PM. |

| Yes, it is normal. She should be back to herself tomorrow. If she isn't, post her beahvior. Poor little buggers just don't know or understand that we are doing what is best for them. Just hold and cuddle her to comfort her for now. Please let us know how she is doing tomorrow. |

| I thins it is normal for them to be out of sorts after a shot. My jewels had a reaction once and she was shaking and in pain she wouldnt let you pick her up. She also just layed around. I would look for those signs if there is a reaction.

| Yep, they do get a little down after the shots. Maybe in the future you could have the vet split the shots up, especially when you go for her rabies. Lots of vets will do it, and some even agree ...

| I wanted to add that even when Jewels had that bad reaction she was better by the next day. I am sure she will be fine.

| I think the 2nd set of shots has and added vaccine in it from the first set. I think it's likely that the 1st set didn't make her feel ill at all. This doesn't happen to every puppy but it is normal for some to have a reaction. Like everyone else has said, keep an eye on her, make sure she is getting fluid & food, and if she isn't better by tomorrow call the vet. If you have some NutriCal this would be excellent while she is feeling under the weather. Happy birthday Hayley! |

| I am so sorry your little baby isn't feeling well. In my opinion ANT REACTION ot a vaccine is worth noting and being concerned about. I am not pro-vaccine by any means and i feel that our pets are over vaccinated. There is a lot of info on this subject on this forum if you search the threads and the internet in general. I am sure you have a good vet but they don't always give the whole story and there are some bas things that can occur as a result of too many vaccines given too frequently and too many at a time. You can really do your baby a favor by reading up on the issue and even getting a second opinion from a homopathic vet. There are actually alternatives to vaccines that are wonderful as well as things to give your baby to help her assimilate the vaccines better and with less potential damage to her and her little system. Good luck and fell free to PM if you want more info on this important subject. |
