There are plenty of yorkies on YT that are from pet store/puppymills/backyard breeders that are just fine. The reason that it is not a good idea to purchase from any of the above mentioned places it that they do not treat the momma dogs well and use them as breeding machines. They are not taken care of and loved like we love our pets. The mills dogs do not have families that take them to the vet, give them baths, take them for walk....all the things that you do for your puppy. Mills dogs are treated as money making machines and when they are no longer needed and cannot make puppie$$$$ they are many times killed. Usually they are considered useless around 5 years old.

The puppies are the lucky ones that make it out of the mills. Many time the miller will hold back the little girls to make more puppies.

My Doodlebug was from a mill. His mom was purchased at a dog auction when she was pregnant and no one wanted to buy her so she was given to a rescue. Doodlebug is very healthy other then having bad knees (Luxating Patella) and he is just turned 2 years old.

I am sorry that your other dog died but that has nothing to do with your puppy. If your vet gave her a clean bill of health them that is fine. She still should not be bred to make more puppies. You do not know her background and that alone is reason to never use her for breeding.

If you do not know her genetic background you could make puppies with conditions that you could be responsible for treating. Breeders give health guarantees and if you were to sell a puppy with a genetic condition (even unknowingly) you as the breeder would be responsible.

She is way to small to breed

My dog was spayed a month ago at 7 months and she weighed 2.2 pounds at the time of surgery. It is a big deal to have them put to sleep and scarey to. However it would be much worse if she had puppies she would probably have to have a c-section anyhow. I would have her spayed. Not trying to scare you but it is the best interest of the dog

Many of us here have bought dogs the very same way you did, without knowing the truth behind where these cute puppies come from. My Ruby is a perfect example of that. But, after joining YT I learned about the mills and when it came time to get our 2nd yorkie, I researched and knew my breeder was a reputable, long time yorkie breeder. And, I didn't help continue to perpetuate the suffering of puppymill breeder dogs.

Did you check the USDA "puppymill" list to see if your breeder's name is on it? If she came from a pet store and the breeder is in Missouri, I can guarantee you she came from a mill.

All I know is shes from MO. I thought it came with her address but it must not, or I was dumb and thre the paper away. I did throw a paper away because I wanted to keep the importian papers in a envople, when we were going to the vet. Maybe I never got her address, but im trying to find stuff about her now.

I found a Don McCreary who is on the USDA "puppymill" list. Since so many of the Missouri puppymills are family businesses, Glenda is probably a relative.

It's got be a husband and wife or relative of some kind - they are both from the same small rural town. Being in the SW part of Missouri I would bet my life on it - puppymill or at best, a large back yard breeder - no better.

Yes it is. And, I'm still thinking they are husband and wife. One of the links listed their ages as 66 and his was 71.
