Gatsby was on a tie out and lead i run around back to get the shorter lead because he could reach the sidewalk and i did not like it. i was around back maybe 30 seconds just long enough to grab the lead follow it to the porch un clip it and get back around the side of the house
when i got back there was a man trying to un hook Gatsby from his lead
(i knot the lead around the d-ring then i clip it threw the not and the d ring so you have to unknot the lead to get him off i did this because the kids used to let him off to show there friends and then he would jump out of there arms and run around the yard now im glad i started doing this when the man seen me he started running and yelling when i looked over at the neighbors yard there was a woman holding there puppy but she got her shirt stuck on the fence and could not run i yelled for my neighbor who is a large muscular man and the woman started to cry we held her until the police came and got her and by the end of the night they also had the man in custody i guess they normally buy dogs off craigslist and sell them for three times what they paid but people have gotten wise to them so they decided to step it up and steal a few pure breed dogs to sell
the most horrifying thing was that they live less then ten blocks from me and there daughter goes to school with my brother.
these people wear my neigbors i remember them from the neighborhood garage sale

WOW - looks like Craigslist needs to revise their policies - this is so wrong on so many levels - my believe is that they shouldn't even be allowed to sell pets. What a scary thing to happen to you all. Disgusting even - I can't believe the low depths people are now going to all for the almighty dollar. Pets are part of our lives - that's kidnapping !

My friend just posted yesterday on Facebook that his son's Shih Tzu was stolen at the park. The people who stole the puppy were caught, it was two 10 yr old boys! Their Mom was going to let them keep the puppy, but the neighbours saw posters and turned them in.

a few i just got my camera back so i really want to take pics but im moving so i cant pack and have the camera ready at the same time that's how i dropped it before unpacking Christmas stuff and yes we still home cook i had even got my now-ex-boyfriend to start helping me cook for them he is doing so much better now if i could get sara (our new sister) to eat id be good she was trained not to eat human food so she will only eat kibble i think i might give up and get her a holistic food

these two have to pay a city fine of $1,000 each and 1,500 hours of community service each which they will spend working at the local humane society the only reason they are avoiding jail time is because they have two kids. this was actually the last straw in a long line of crap so we are selling our house back to the bank(getting back what we paid and erasing the loan)
and moving into the suburbs it was not just the dogs but i have custody of my brother who is 9 and my sister who is 16 and right now we live very close to a main road and a park with suspected gang activity so it really is for the best

What a very disturbing story. I suppose people get more desperate in tough economic times. I have been thinking of safety steps my husband and I can take as we go thru the search for wonderful homes for our 3 pups. I was thinking of Craigs List, but had a strong concern. Now I definately will not advertise on Craigs List. Thanks for the info...

I'm so glad your dog is safe at home with you. We should never underestimate the stupidity of people... at least you aided in capturing these loosers so they won't do this again!

I always feel a little guilty if I'm buying or selling something over the internet and request to meet the person in a public location rather than either of our homes. I hate to make people who are probably perfectly normal and nice folks think that I don't trust them or that I'm paranoid. But you have to do what is best for your safety regardless of possibly offending someone. I just hope others realize that and don't get their feelings hurt by it. I'm also especially careful about telling people when my husband and I will be home. You never know when someone is just fishing for information to find out when your house will be empty. It's sad that we have to be so cautious these days.
