Everyone! Watch your babies. I took Gatsby outside to play before me and the kids left to go and see the monthly art show he loves to go but i cant carry him right now thear is a shi-tzu dog next door that they just got and it is in side a chain link fence Gatsby was on a tie out and lead i run around back to get the shorter lead because he could reach the sidewalk and i did not like it. i was around back maybe 30 seconds just long enough to grab the lead follow it to the porch un clip it and get back around the side of the house when i got back there was a man trying to un hook Gatsby from his lead (i knot the lead around the d-ring then i clip it threw the not and the d ring so you have to unknot the lead to get him off i did this because the kids used to let him off to show there friends and then he would jump out of there arms and run around the yard now im glad i started doing this when the man seen me he started running and yelling when i looked over at the neighbors yard there was a woman holding there puppy but she got her shirt stuck on the fence and could not run i yelled for my neighbor who is a large muscular man and the woman started to cry we held her until the police came and got her and by the end of the night they also had the man in custody i guess they normally buy dogs off craigslist and sell them for three times what they paid but people have gotten wise to them so they decided to step it up and steal a few pure breed dogs to sell the most horrifying thing was that they live less then ten blocks from me and there daughter goes to school with my brother. these people wear my neigbors i remember them from the neighborhood garage sale |
Oh my! I'm glad you and your neighbors dogs are safe. |
OH MY GOSH that is terrible. Thankfully you were able to catch them before they stole both your dogs. Knowing my husband he would of shot them. Seriously. I think thats why most people now a days really do a lot of flyers and ad space when a dog goes missing. It's a wide spread issue happening all over the country. You may want to try and call your local news paper and see if they will do some type of story. That way your whole community will know as well. |
OMGosh! This is terrible! Thank goodness that you tied the lead and made it harder for him to unhook it. Also that you got there to catch him in the act! It makes me sick to think they could have gotten away with your dog and your neighbors. What have they been charged with? I'm sure whatever the charge, it is nowhere near what it should be. Seems these thiefs get off with a slap on the wrist. I'm so glad you still have your precious baby. It seems this type thing is happening more and more. What has this world come to. What was that man yelling when he took off running...was he yelling to that woman stuck to the fence to run also? Totally crazy. So glad there is a happy ending to this story! |
WOW!!! I am so glad that Gatsby is safe. I can't imagine how that would feel. You just don't know who you can trust with your babies. |
So glad your baby is safe! |
I live in Texas and the worse thing you can call someone is a "suck-egg-dog". Well, these people (?) are lower than that. |

I know what you mean (see bold). Just the other day I had a scare it was about 2 am and I was letting Tucker out in our back yard with out my boyfriend. I run down to our basement really quick to get clothes and go to let him in and he was no where. I panicked there was no way he could have gotten out alone we have a six foot privacy fence in our yard. So I went to get my boyfriend and he tried to get his gun to shoot someone!!!:shocked7q. Thnanks god the little boger was hiding in our bushes becasue he didnt want to come in. Its scary when things like this happens. I am thanksful he was just playing a little 2 am hide and go seek and not stolen! |
That is scary! Glad you acted quickly and everyone is safe  |
OMG....that is so scary, heart stopping scary! So glad you prevented not only your Gatsby but your neighbors dog from being stolen. It's horrible whoever would do this, but to think they live in your neighborhood, how low can you go! |
I'm totally nauseous after reading that story! This is the second or third ive read about on YT! I'm just glad yours has a happy ending! I think thieves, BYBs, brokers and puppy mills are targeting our dogs because they can get so much for them, they are status symbols to some and are in high demand! There was an angel watching gatsby for sure and this is a great example of why we need to be very vigilant when it comes to our dogs! Unfortunately the world is made up of cruel, heartless, dishonest and mean people! Just glad their plans were foiled with you! Thanks for sharing your story! :-) |
OMgosh,. that is scary! So glad your baby is ok. |
What a terrible experience! I'm so happy for you that you caught him and Gatsby is safe. |
Wow, you saved yourself and someone the worst nightmare ever. THat is so scary that happened. I'm so glad you caught it and prevented it from happening. By having the police get them, think how many dogs you prevented from being stolen....GO YOU!!! |
i believe they are being charged with grand theft even though they did not get away with the dogs.they will also be charged with destruction of property two counts of both this has me so shaken you would not believe the worst part is that i often leave Gatsby out on a lead and go in the house to cook lunch i always felt safe because the way my neighborhood is layed out i have 8 neighbors that are very close to me one on each side three across the very small street in front and three across the very small ally in back but when this happened i remembered that was how cookie went missing his mom turned around for a min and when she came back he was gone i will never leave my babies alone again ever |
