| New strange habit Brandi has picked up this really weird habit. Basically I feed Brandi Natural's choice...two flavors, chicken and rice and lamb and rice. I have to switch up flavors cause she get's really picky. The Lamb and rice she will eat from her bowl with no problem.....gobbles it down like it's her last meal. When I feed her the chicken and rice, the only way I can get her to eat it is if I feed it to her from a spoon and the she gobbles it down like its her last meal. She just started this weird habit about a week ago. I've tried other flavors but she doesn't like them. I've had tried other types of bowls but its the same result. It's only with the chicken and rice. Trust me if I could just feed her the lamb and rice I would be so happy but after about a week of eating the same thing she eventually will stop eating it. She will go a whole day without eating before she eats hence the reason why I switch up flavors...but stick with the same brand. Hmmmm.....could to think of it my cat is the same way....will not eat the same thing oer and over again. But why of sudden this strange new habit. I wonder what she is trying to tell me. If she doesn't like the chicken and rice, why will she eat from the spoon and not the bowl so that can't be it. I don't know.....I wish I knew how to speak yorkie. Anyone on her speak Yorkie? I need a translator. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | OMG - I can't wait to see the responses to this...Bridget does the same thing....the only difference she WILL eat the CAT food from a plate....I've even tried to put her food on their plate and she will not eat it...and her hard food she will eat one kibble at a time when we're playing fetch and she thinks it a reward!!! Good luck and thanks for asking the question!!! I think they just have us trained!!!

| She really does have me trained. I feel so pathetic. Here I am on the floor feeding Brandi like a 2yr old child to get her to eat. The really messed up part is that I am so patient with her. Oh well.....at least she is eating. Could be much worse.....just another yorkie quirk I have to live with. |

| I don't speak yorkie but I think that dogs really want to do a good job and please us and when they think it's their job to do something, they try to do it very well. I don't think she is training you, I think that somehow she got the idea that it really pleases you when she does this. Like maybe the first time she wasn't all that hungry but you did this and made such a big deal out of it that now she thinks that she needs to do it as it's her "job". I would maybe try mixing that particular food in with something really appealing to her and just leave it and see what she does. That is, unless you really like this particular behavior.... |

I only did this one time before when I first brought her home. She wouldn't eat because of being in new surroundings but that was almost two years ago. I've tried mixing the other flavor and she does better but than I have all these half empty cans in the frig . Like I said it's only with the chicken and rice flavor she does this with.....no other flavors. I know she's not sick but I was just wondering on why is she starting this strange behavior now. Maybe it's because she's getting older....she will be 9 yrs old in July. I don't know but I don't mind feeding her in the evening like this but in the mornings, I don't have the time so I make sure not to feed her chicken and rice in the mornings. I just hope she doesn't start doing this with everything she eats. If she wasn't so darn picky, I would try some other brand of dog food......it took several brands just to find something she would eat consistenly. She has no problem with the 1 star food but the 5 star food.....she hates. Maybe she takes after her momma......I don't eat anything that's good for me....all greasy food loaded with salt and butter. I do know that when a cat I had years ago (before the one I have now) started picking up strange behaviors and she was older like almost 14 yrs old. Come to think of it so did my grandfather . | |

| Normally I do leave the room when she's eating especially in the mornings. But since the scare (she started choking) I stay in the same room with her. Now the food I feed her is all wet food and I squished it to make sure there is no large chunks in it. She only has her 4 front teeth and she can't chew anything to hard. |
