| Tags or no Tags Ush will be 6 months in a few days and I thought he should have a tag with all his info just in case but when I finally found a tag tiny enough for him he has chewed it until you can no longer read it. I have the collar as close as is safe bit it still hangs down. Should I just not worry about a tag. Really in my thoughts if he ever got away from me no one would bring my sweety back. I do plan on having him chipped when he is neutered next months. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

They also make tags that slide onto the collar, and collars that you can embroider with their name/ your address... these are good alternatives for people with dogs that love to chew tags.

| We don't wear tags - I'm just too afraid they might get caught on something. Its a tough decision to make. An option could be not to wear tags in the house - but use a snap collar and put them on when going outside? Good luck!!

| we have tags! You are more than welcome to go look at my pictures to see what they look like with their tags. I definitely suggest them - it's much easier for a neighbor who finds them to call the phone number on the tag than to take them to a vet or humane society to be scanned to see if theres a chip, and if it's an active one. (WOW...can you say run on sentence?!?!?) If you just can't put it on a collar, I suggest using the D ring on the harness if you have a harness...If it were up to me, I would for sure find some way to get tags on the pup. Good luck with your decision - as has been mentioned, it's a tough one!

| Tags are a definite must for my furbutts! I put name, phone number and "needs daily meds" on the tag even though they don't need daily meds. That way if they ever get out and someone thinks they are too cute to return, they will think twice if they think he needs medicine every day and don't want to have to pay for daily medicine. These yorkies are so darned fast and can get out a door in a split second. It has happened twice but fortunately Toby hears the word "treat" and comes running back to me.

| Thats a training issue. My Bailey doesn't dart out the door and is leash free. Its not for everyone - but it works for us.

| Roxie has her rabies tag and her info tag on her collar. Her collar is on all the time. She loves her collar, and if I take it off for any reason she will follow me around and bark at me until I put it back on. Her tag has her name, my phone #, and her Pettrac chip #. She has scooted past us and out the front door a few times, so I worry about her possibly getting out.

| I have tags. I just think of it as an added precaution. If you want a strong tag, I highly recommend Red Dingo tags. They are made with stainless steel, but aren't really heavy. The small has room for name and two phone numbers, or one phone number and the "needs meds daily" line. BTW, diannenet, that is brilliant! I may have to order new tags so I can put that on them. You can find them at all different sorts of prices. I found catgrace.com to be the least expensive. Amazon.com also has them, but catgrace.com had such great customer service, she contacted me with questions and was super fast in shipping. |

| Jackson wears tags pretty much 24/7 on his collar... except bath time. They are stainless steel tags. We have 3 acres of land, backing up to 90 acres of farmland (that leads to a neighborhood thru the woods) and I would want him to be tagged if he ever got away. He's gotten out a few times and never went far but it still puts me in panic mode (one of those times, his collar was not on) and I was freaking out. I know if animal control were to pick up a dog without a collar, it would end up in the shelter faster. I remember as a child growing up in a neighborhood, we often had loose dogs running around. We probably returned over 10 dogs in a span of a few years back to their owners because their tags were on. Jackson is also well trained and I will let him off leash on our 3 acres occasionally, but you just never know. I also have a name tag with my number on his harness (which he only wears out to parks, etc) just in case a collar were to come off, etc. We have a back-up. Plus he's microchipped.

Think about what you would do if you found a dog and how much faster you would get your dog back if the information was readily accessible.
