| I was hesitant of posting the adopted girl's story bc I didn't want this story to be one of those that gets heated & take a life of it's own. I want this thread to remain neutral, yet be informative & educational. The important thing here, is to learn & know what the red flags are & when to walk away. Signs of unethical breeders. Please feel free to add onto the list. These are just random ones that I can think of at the moment right out of my head, so they're not in any particular order. 1. Breeder will not show mother or father or the environment they live in. 2. Poor communication, no return calls, not detail oriented. 3. Check the adult's teeth, overall condition. If the breeder cares for her dog's health, esp those of breeding stock, they will be well taken care of. 4. Never purchase a puppy over the internet w/out #1. Go see the mom & dad, siblings & their living environment. Plus, a responsible reputable breeder will want to meet the new family. Sometimes the dad will not be around if they used a stud. Ask to see pictures & other info.

| Sometimes things are not always so obvious anymore. Champion lines and contracts are again one of those things that do not always guarantee you a healthy pet. I am greatful that you post this..It shows you care not only for the people who are looking for a healthy pet but also for the well being of the pets in question..Thanks again!! |

On her site, she shows & states that she strives to breed to the standard. It's not all it seems & most do not see the poor living situations, in cages unsocialized, breeding until they're not 'needed' anymore. I didn't tell the whole story, but my friend actually adopted two girls from Rose. I was shocked at the condition they were in. They're young, Fanny (one w/the bad knees) being 5 & Shilo only 2 almost 3 (not sure of her age). They both had peridontal disease & Shilo had two teeth extractions from decay. They were placed w/out being spayed, anybody could have adopted them.

| It's Michigan, sorry my mistake. My friend's husband found them on the internet & she was coming to California to visit her mother & she dropped them off at their new home.

Either of wo things could have happened. A show kennel may be selling their dogs anywhere or depending how far back in the pedigree the champions appear, show breeders could have been fooled by someone they dealt with who in turn sold everywhere. This is why so many show breeders are very careful with their lines and try to make sure they do not deal with a kennel such as this one this poor girl came from or try to be sure they don't deal with someone who would deal with this type of kenne. i am not sure if this girl actually came from a show breeder? I sure hope not. | |

| I wonder if the woman in all of the pictures is the woman that dropped of these 2 for your friend? I would ask her to take a look at the pictures and see if she recognizes her as the same person.

And what is her kennel name? Also, did your friend contact the breeder to tell her about the LP and dental problems? I'm just curious as to what the breeder's response was. I don't condone this kind of breeding - I just wanted to make sure that other breeders weren't included in this disclosure if it wasn't directly related to their breeding. And yes, just because someone has a CH it does not guarantee that they have the best dogs. The best dog doesn't always win at the shows, either. As many have said here - check out the breeder first. This is sad and I hope that we find out who's line the LP is coming from.

| tread softly Something about this thread doesn't add up---This is a breeder-exhibitor who is unlikely to have deceived her way into getting the class of dogs she has. We wouldn't want to look like harpies, would we? Last edited by magicgenie; 04-20-2010 at 05:47 AM. Reason: fis typo |
