| Pet Water Fountains - anyone using this? Just curious how you like this and is it safe, etc as i have a malt that does not like to drink water unless it is fresh then she gulps a bunch down when we put a fresh bowl down so wondering if this would help if i bought one of these ? |

| The only problem I have with them is: they are made out of plastic! I have one I'll send you if you want it. Mine drank very well from it and their beards stayed dryer, and I do believe it encouraged them to drink a bit more.

| I have the petmate fountain, the large one and I love it!! They get nice clean water and it stays nice and cool. The furkids really enjoy it as well and it is very quiet so no problems there. I do prefer stainless steel over plastic but it is dishwasher safe so you can sanitize it pretty well. Just make sure you take it apart and clean it well and replace the filters when necessary. They do have one that has stainless steel.... Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Pet Cat Dog Fountain Black - eBay (item 360248790024 end time Apr-30-10 14:49:09 PDT)

| We have tried all of the major brands and so far like the Drinkwell 360 the best. It is the only one I have had where the pump has not stopped working within 6 months. I order replacement filters in large quantities online and change them once a week or so. My dogs and cats love this fountain.

| Oh and I forgot to mention: the sound of the water is relaxing but makes me have to pee more often.

The SS on this model is just to make it look pretty: it does not protect your dog from chemicals leaching into the water from the plastic.

| I had had the Petmate fountain in the past, but now have the Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain. I like this one better as the motor is quieter and has lasted longer. Plus, it's much easier to take apart and clean, which is especially important to me as I have issues with my hands due to arthritis and neuropathy. Molly loves drinking from the stream of water as it's cooler, filtered and oxygenated. And, it does encourage more water intake than simply having water in a bowl.
