| ![]() Why don't you contact Yorkies Inc. in MA and surrender the dog to them so they can find him a loving home.

| ![]() I am very sorry, this is horrible news. I just can not imagine having to give up a pet. Did you reread your lease to make sure they can do this? Is it possible to move to a new place where you can bring your baby with you. I hope this all works out good for you and your baby. |

| ![]() Nope, that's illegal. If pets were permitted when you moved in and signed your lease, they cannot legally change it in the middle of your lease and force you to obide by it and surrender your pet. The lease constitutes a binding, legal agreement and they have to hold to it. The only thing they can do is not renew your lease when it is up. You need to consult an attorney. |

| ![]() I'm no expert but that sounds illegal. If you have a lease it's a CONTRACT and is binding. I'd call a lawyer and have him call your landlord. Sounds very sketchy to me!!! |

Please read your lease agreement and don't just allow them to force you to give up your pet(s)! If I were you I would fight this because they are in the wrong.

| ![]() Star I live in Canton (about ten minutes from you) and I can tell you right now, what is happening is ILLEGAL. If you have a signed copy of your lease, that is a legal document that will not expire until the date of YOUR personal lease expires. In fact, my mom went through this in her apartment complex, and in the case of legalities, they couldn't even legally make tenants who moved in under the "pets allowed" lease to get rid of their pets when their lease was up and they renewed their lease....they just drafted a new lease for new tenants. It was a biiiiiig expensive legal battle. What your rental property is doing is illegal, wrong, and in the long run very expensive for them. If you know other neighbors, you don't have to stand for this! I'd be very interested to see which rental property it is you are living in. Like I said, I live in Canton, MA...... I am VERY close to you, so PM me if you want and I'll be as much help as I possibly can be!!!! I also may know people in the area who may want the dog if you cannot keep him, although like I said, this shouldn't be the outcome of this situation.

How many units are in the complex? I'm just wondering how many pet owners will be affected by this policy change? Can you scan the letter into the computer and let us see it, maybe I can help find you a lawyer in MA (I'm a MA and RI lawyer and can help refer you to someone who does LL/Tenant work). They might even be able to help you pro bono (free or sliding scale).

| ![]() Also, they could really get in trouble for this if they sought out tenants with the premise that they were a "pet-friendly" community. If this situation has become that problematic for management, then what they should do is change their pet policy for future tenants only, while leaving their current tenants' agreements as they are. This community must be nuts to think that all those people will just dispose of their pets on a whim's notice.

| ![]() This sounds fishy! Please OP come back and accept 107barney's offer. I would hate to think the OP is looking into giving up her/his baby when there is no need!!! Fight this, and take until the end of your lease to find somewhere new to live since your baby will not be allowed after the renewal.

| ![]() Totally, illegal to do to current tenants. I would move before giving up my baby. That was way cool of 107blarney to offer up services to help. ![]() |
