Exactly. This is ILLEGAL. You signed a lease agreement and per the terms of that contract it was agreed that you can/will have a pet for the duration of the lease term. Now, should they choose to enforce this policy upon any renewal of your lease, then they have the legal right to do so, but they CANNOT renege on the current contract terms!

Please read your lease agreement and don't just allow them to force you to give up your pet(s)! If I were you I would fight this because they are in the wrong.
