| Just because he loved it doesn't mean it's good for him. A toddler might have a blast playing with a knife but would you give a toddler a knife? I sure hope not. Anyway, I'm done, I don't want to bring that drama to this thread so don't worry, you won't hear from me again

| Why would you be under the impression that is not the case? Every physical aspect of every dog is a result of the genetics passed on from the parents, is it not? Why would the ears be any different? |

| Gracie's ears never stood up and when I got her at 7 months I didn't bother and try to make them stand up, she is cute the way she is But when I got her there was her sister still left and her ears were straight up. Because of Gracie's ears the breeder discounted her to 700.00. I would of paid full price |

In any event, I started this thread earlier today on the subject to get input from others. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...s-genetic.html I don't like stating something for fact and then not providing proof when asked. I pulled out some of my books and flipped through them seeing what I can find. All of these contain the information you need to support the fact: Control of Canine Genetic Diseases - George Padgett (which I have found to be the most helpful, informative book about genetics ever...actually used it to write a college thesis on mitochondrial disorders ) Genetics for Dog Breeders - Roy Robinson The Genetic Connection - Lowell Ackerman | |

| That's great considering he's so young, you aren't going to have to do anything to help the up. Don't be worried if they flop again during teething, it sometimes happens. Keep the hair on the tips trimmed to not weigh them down.

| Hi all Hi everyone. I just got an adult and she's almost 2, it seems the people I got her from neglected her a bit. She needed to be groomed and had a few knots around the collar. Anyway her ears are floopy but they are high floopy ears, the very tips seems to be the only thing going down. When I call her they go all the way up except the tips. The groomer left her long hair on her ears and its very cute, but I didn't want to keep it that way if they are trying to stand up and the weight of the hair is bring them down. Any advice? |
