The question remains...all physical aspects of a dog are a result of what they inherit from their parents. Why would you think that ears would be any different?

I don't like stating something for fact and then not providing proof when asked. I pulled out some of my books and flipped through them seeing what I can find. All of these contain the information you need to support the fact:

Control of Canine Genetic Diseases - George Padgett (which I have found to be the most helpful, informative book about genetics ever...actually used it to write a college thesis on mitochondrial disorders )
Genetics for Dog Breeders - Roy Robinson
The Genetic Connection - Lowell Ackerman
