Babydoll face means rounder face with wider set eyes. It is not the same as the standard Yorkie look. When someone uses that term they are implying that the dog has a more dollface look to it. There are even different degress of dollface. Here is a website of a breeder that specializes in "that look" Click here:http://epetitepuppy.com/ Cute, but show me a Yorkie that isn't a little doll

| Pat is correct. Jesse, who was my heart, has a good example of what can be called a baby-doll face. Their faces look like they ran into the wall and mooshed in their faces. The eyes are wider set and they are, or look like they are, larger. Those faces are hard to get..Pat and I bred Jesse's parents 3 more times plus we bred his aunt to the same male, and never got another beauty like him. That is one of the reasons why I tell people to NOT think that looking at a pic or a puppy from the "last litter between these two" has anything to do with the looks of the current litter.. |

When I was looking for Ava I wanted a healthy little female with a spunky personality, small, erect, well set ears, big eyes, short shout and compact body with a silky, full coat......that is the description of my "dream puppy" after studying the breed for admittedly only a short time. I agree with Shelbysmom about Eleite Petite and my Ava actually came from this line, although her breeder was Carol Shaver of Dessert Darlings, Cigale of Elite Petitie got her breeding stock from Carol. These breeders have been working for 30 years to achieve this look without it getting too extreme. As Whipsersmom said it is a hard look to achieve and show breeders don't care for it because it is not the "standard" look but I LOVE IT!! There is also a "pixie face" where the features are very tiny. I like that look too....sort of like Brittany's Mia for instance. I do not agree that breeders use these descriptive terms to make more money. Although it is true that these babies do usually cost more it is because the "look" is desired and hard to achieve. The breeder who achieves this look is not "bad", disreputable or "just in it for the money" if they charge more when they have a puppy with this look. It is hard to achieve and the breeder deserves to be paid the market value of that puppy they have worked sometimes years to achieve. Imo, it is similar to a show breeder who tries for years to get as close to the breed standard as set forth by the YTCA and they get a champion. They are entitled to be rewarded for the hard work and effort that went into creating that champion. As always, JMHO.....

| If you were to look at a baby doll face when its wet, the stop (forehead) is deeper more pronounced. The skull is rounder. The muzzle is shorter and more narrow. They also have more round shaped eyes instead of oval or almond. This is the description I have seen. I had a picture of a drawn head study of the standard type and baby doll faced but can't find it. |

| Thanks Gazou!! I appreciate your opinion so much...it means a lot to me! Of course i love her to death but when a breeder says nice things...it is the icing on the cake. |
