| We had our first bath!!! Ruby had her first bath today!!! We did it in the bathtub...I didn't find an oatmeal based shampoo but I got one for small dogs (best they had) and she's now all clean and shiny!!! She looks bigger too, I think her fur must have been a bit oily or something...but being 7wks and in a new environment I didn't want to bathe her earlier.... She did ok during the bath, lots of crying though...even with the water running slow and stuff so as not to scare her... After that we brushed our hair and she didn't much mind that....but she tried hard to eat the brush (obviously...)

| They eventually get use to the bath. Pixie loves her bath now but the first bath she was scared to death. Tips to make it pleasant...... Always test the water on your wrist like you do for a baby warm a towel in the dryer Talk to them in a soft calm voice praising good girl or good boy give them a treat after their bath Wrap them in that warm towel and snuggle a lil bit blow dry them and brush them out I always put a shirt or sweater on Pixie after her bath so she doesn't catch cold Of course another treat!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | She'll get used to the bath. Most of them do. It will take awhile. I talk to Roxy in my soothing, but fun voice convincing her how good this feels. lol! After I've snuggled her in a big towel for a few minutes, I give her a few treats. She dries fast, so I don't need to blow dry her. A bath isn't her favoite thing to do, but she cooperates quite well. I've read on here that some dogs have always hated baths & probably always will, so it could go either way for you. It took a few months before she gave up trying to chew the brush. She did finally get over it, & accepts it as just a part of everyday stuff now.

| That's great. Eventually, she will quit crying. She is just a baby. But doesn't she smell better? If you have cold winters there, you may want to start blow drying her now, so she will get used to the blow dryer. Mine did fine the first time I blew her dry. The second time I blew her dry, she peed on the towel! But now she just lays on the towel after I towel dry her while I am blowing her dry. It also saves the furniture from getting wet.lol That oiliness is what I was talking about in yorkie's hair. It starts looking that way in about a week usually. You can tell after you've had her awhile.

| Yes she is now very very soft, clean, shiny and fluffy I don't know...my chihuahua never liked water or baths...she just stays completely still though (always did!) and waits for it to be over! We don't have very cold winters here...we've only had like 15 days of total winter (which means 6-9 degrees Celsius) and that is like nothing compared to US winters! The rest of the time we're in the 60's Farenheit...so she won't be needing the blow dryer much. Every time she sees it though (when I do my hair) she barks at it-even though the first time I let her smell it with the air on and off...lets just say they didn't become friends! LOL I think, for a first time, she did good! We'll see...till next week

| It will be fine. If she doesn't need to become friendly with the dryer, then that's great. Less work. She may not need bathing every week. You'll just have to see for yourself. If she isn't outside (when she is older) then she may not need bathing weekly. I've just always bathed mine weekly. Talk to you later!

| Starr loves bath time. We have a double bowl kitchen sink, with one deeper side. I use the deeper side and try to keep the water warm to my touch as I think she has a higher body temperature than mine. She will stand at my feet while I get things ready. My wife towel drys her and comb her out. |

| Do you think if I fill the tub with a little shallow water (like up to Ruby's knees or tummy) she might get used to water better? She'll be supervised of course, I wouldn't leave her in there alone... She could maybe splash around and start to like water and bath time
