thank you!!! you're so right, beverly hills is extremely dog friendly, and many shop owners will let you "pass", but you usually need to be really discreet.

so i'm going to get that kwigy bo doggie bag that looks like a purse!!

How exciting! I wish I lived around a dog friendly community so that Chloe could hang out with me at places other than Petco and Petsmart!

2 of my pups went to their forever homes at 90210....they go everywhere whith their families.

There is also a pet carrier by Brighton that looks beautiful and sharp too. I got the black and chocolate croc stamped leather one from them.

I know how you feel. I have a neck injury and thank goodness Sweet Pea is only 3lbs. I know with pain it's hard to do anything at all let alone pick up your animal.

thanks!!! you are soooo right, many times standing there with nothing in my hands is still painful!!! is sweet pea full grown yet?!?

Mmmm. I'm a very slender 5'4", 120 pound woman with scoliosis and know several slight bodied women that have back difficulties and losing weight wouldn't begin to help us. Asking me or them to slim down would put us in an anorexic state. I've struggled most of my life to keep weight on.

If you actually are rescuing a dog from a rescue you may find it hard to come across one the tinier designer dogs. There are always people out there looking for the tinies. So you will have plenty of competition. However I have seen some much older Yorkies that were smaller that sometimes come available.
I just got my first Yorkie but have Chihuahua's too and one of my Chi's is a runt. We love her a lot but most people find out that the tinies ones sometimes take more work and effort. For example we had to build her steps to get onto the furniture either that or you would have to bend over to pick her up and that would also not be good for your back. Sometimes the tinies have more health problems too and that can get expensive. Everyone always falls in love with our tiny Chihuahua when they see her but they don't realize the long term problems being very tiny causes.

After I posted this, I realized that it's the "lifting" of the weight, not just carrying around the weight. Again, I did'nt mean to offend.

You didn't offend. In my case it's not only lifting & carrying, it's also up and down on my knees......I exhibit & groom so lifting and carrying is a continous thing with me. I've just learned to adjust. However, what I have found is that the lifting has strengthened my back muscles. The pain is not constant and at times can get uncomfortable, but I'd never give up what I love doing. Well not unless I I become crippled.

I hope you find some relief for your back soon!! I herniated a disk at L5 in my spine and had unbearable pain, numbness, and loss of muscle control in my right foot/leg for almost 2 years. Luckily, I finally went to a new doctor (at the University of Michigan Spine Clinic) and had 2 rounds of spinal injections. Now, years later, no pain, full use of my leg, and only a little numbness in my right foot. One of the best things about a dog is WALKING them, which is great for a bad back.

Feel better soon!

lifting is probably more of an issue than carrying, but it's still a concern.

carrying 7lbs in your arms or on your shoulder or holding it up while giving it a bath is much, much different than 7lbs spread all over your body. if losing 7lbs was the answer to my back problem, believe me, i would've done it a loooong time ago....
